REVIEW:
Ryan Malone plays football for the Dragons and Paul Toth plays for the Griffins because of this they’ve known each other for years. Ryan has been lusting after Paul for just as long without knowing that Paul reciprocated. Years ago, Ryan was in a serious relationship with Duke, Duke fooled Ryan into thinking he was a willing partner and wanted to have a BDSM relationship. It took Ryan quite a while to realise that not only did Duke not want anything to do with BDSM he didn’t want anything to do with Ryan after he revealed what he wanted in the bedroom. Ryan was devastated when they broke up and has had “just sex” with his partners since.
When Paul confronts Ryan in the opposing team’s locker room he manages to get past Ryan’s shyness and they share their first kiss. When they get to his place Ryan decides to lay it all on the line before they start anything, so he gives Paul a taste of what he likes in the bedroom. What surprises Ryan the most is that Paul takes to Ryan’s type of “direction” extremely well. That’s when Paul explains to Ryan he prefers it when Ryan is in control as he’s a natural follower.
It doesn’t take long before Paul and Ryan are in a serious relationship, everything is going good but there is something holding Ryan back and after Ryan is injured in a game his doctor advises him that continuing to play is not in his best interests if he wants to be able to walk properly. Everything is going so well that when Paul leaves Ryan’s bed in the middle of the night Ryan immediately takes it to mean Paul is just like Duke and can’t handle the BDSM side of their relationship. Paul has a very hard task on his hands to get Ryan to understand that things aren’t always the way they seem.
I have no hesitation in recommending Crossing the Line to everyone who enjoys reading sports orientated m/m love stories. The Out of Bounds series is definitely one to read.
