Wow…color me surprised!! I’m so glad I picked this one up…I am really impressed with this author. Looks this may be a debut book, as well…it was really friggin good!!
This book was like X-Men meets M/M romance…the action scenes were enthralling and that’s saying a lot. Sometimes I kind of skip over a lot of the action stuff because it can be redundant, that doesn’t happen with this story. This author knew exactly what she was doing and executed it perfectly. Her military knowledge and tactical operations knowledge was so on point…research done (HUGE CHECK MARK!!) I don’t want you thinking this is all action the heat between these two MC’s is off the chain. From their first interaction to every subsequent interaction these two blew the top off of my brain, repeatedly the absolute definition of hot. This is one of those stories where the characters absolutely do not want any romantic entanglements but can’t deny the connection they have….my absolute favorite kind.
Chemical warfare in the future has left millions of military personnel dead and those that didn’t die were infected with certain superhuman abilities.
Jamie’s whole world is leading his team of Metahuman’s. Keeping the world safe is his ultimate goal. He never wanted to be Metahuman but he was never given a choice. After a dangerous mission and a run-in with his politician father Jamie heads to a civilian bar to blow off some steam. He had no intentions of going home with anyone he just wanted to drink and forget.
Kyle Brannigan was also looking for escape and his target is the brooding, super sexy man at the bar. Their rocky first meeting leads to the best sex of both their lives with no intentions of seeing each other again.
Both men are thrown for a loop when their two branches of the military combined team and Jamie is made Kyle new commanding officer.
Life and death is still on the line with a lot of evil in the world looking for world domination and destruction.
High stress pulls Jamie and Kyle together again and again but both men have no idea how to make a life together work despite their jobs.
I can’t stress enough how good these two men are together and how well written this book is. It’s a little longer than I think it needed to be some things were over explained but I can understand that. This futuristic world blew my mind and the author made it all so believable.
Absolutely recommend and I can’t wait for book 2….
