Troy – Out of the Dark follows on from Troy – Into the Light
Rafferty ‘Raff’ McMahon—beaten, broken and cast out of his home at eighteen—turns to his aged aunt who helps him become a new man with a new name. Ten years later, a successful photographer with an edge to his work everyone seems to want, a call that will set his life on a roller coaster ride comes through., wants to meet him. Mesmerized by the voice coming down the line, Raff immediately agrees to the meeting.
“Hi, can I speak to Rafferty McMahon?” A deep and seductive voice asks. “You are.” My reply is short, who the fuck is this? I’m having a horrendous day and, however hot this guy sounds, I want off my phone. As he sets about researching, not the company but the man himself; captivated by Troy’s images, Raff is excited to meet the man behind the sexy drawl.
When Troy sets up a meeting with up-and-coming photographer Rafferty McMahon the last thing he expects is to be drawn to him. A connection he has already experienced once before, his heart beats a little faster. Is this for real?
“What do you want, Troy?” His voice, low and gravelly, sends shivers over my body. “I don’t know. We have only just met but from the first moment I heard your voice I haven’t been able to stop thinking of you.”
The feeling of ownership overwhelms Troy and as much as he wants to stay locked away with only the memories of Franco, he can’t fight his feelings for this handsome man. Is this the man Franco told Troy was waiting for him? Is he going to be the great love of his life? Will both Raff and Troy be allowed to be with their one true love, or is there someone out there ready to tear them apart? This book is a gay M/M romance and include strong language and hot sex between two men, and is recommended for over 18’s. It is book two in a duology Book 1 Troy – Into the Light is out now. Troy’s story hits on a hard subject that may act as a trigger for some.
REVIEW:
I couldn’t wait for Troy’s story to continue. And it was even more than I hoped for.
“Out of the Dark” picks right up from where “Into the Light” left off. Troy is still reeling from the death of hus one true love, Franco. He is struggling to try and move on with his life like Franco wanted him to but it is really hard. Business wise he is in full steam ahead mode and, together with Nico and Ryan, ready to take their new clothing line to the next level. That requires them to hire a world-class photographer with just the right “edge”. They realize that there is only one photographer that fits the bill… Rafferty McMahon, but he has a bit of a reputation.
Riff answers a phone call that will change his life for the better. From the moment he heard that voice he knew that he had to meet the man behind that voice but mixing business with pleasure is never a good idea. And that voice just happens to be attached to a very sexy Troy Ballantyne, who is the CEO of De’ath of You Enterprises and his ticket to all he has worked towards. But both men can’t deny the immediate attraction. Troy: Out of the Dark is the continuation of his journey and for Troy to finally being willing to get beyond Franco’s death and reach for what he deserves.
How could you not want this for Troy? He has endured so much at such a young age. He meets his soul mate, his happily ever after, only to have his joy ripped from him through Franco’s battle with cancer. Troy truly deserves a happily ever after. But he just can’t let go of true love, even after death. Then, on a presumably innocent business call, his world is rocked. The sexy as can be voice on the other end of the call calls to him. And you can’t help but have hope for him. Then you meet Raff, hear his story and your heart goes out for him too. Both of these men, and their back stories, will tug at your heartstrings and make you love them and only want the best for their future.
I fell for this writer and the sexy men she writes about in the original series, Reunion, and I love that you still get to see glimpses of Nico and Ryan. But I think Troy and Raff’s story might be even more endearing, if that is possible. I am going to say that I really, really recommend that you read the first story in this new series, “Troy: Into the Darkness” first. I would recommend the “Reunion series” and the this series in reading order but definitely Darkness if nothing else. The only little tiny problem I have with the book is that the editing could use a bit more polished but that is only a small problem. I highly recommend this book and series…it is a must read and I will be rereading both series in the near future.
