“My job is to protect you, not like you.”
After years of being bounced around the foster care system and an unwanted medical discharge from the Army, Jase Walker has finally found a place for himself as a bodyguard with Byrne Security. His loyalty to his job goes beyond professional dedication; the Byrnes treat him like family—the one thing he’s always wanted—and he’s not going to risk messing that up just because his newest client gets under his skin.
Kelly Davis, founder of the popular gay dating app bLoved, is a hopeless romantic, but for Kelly, nothing is more hopeless than finding someone to love. His outgoing, hot-tempered personality and high-profile life help him hide his loneliness, but when a series of personal threats force him out of the public eye, the only thing he has to distract himself with is the maddeningly stoic bodyguard who drives him crazy.
When Kelly’s impulsive nature puts him at risk, the two men are forced into a situation that will either bring out the worst in each of them, or help them find the one thing they need the most… each other.
REVIEW:
Be Mine, book 2 in the At Last, The Beloved Series was pretty good. I did not enjoy it as much as book one but the danger /mystery element kept me engaged and I really enjoyed the characters. This author is really good with character development, I noticed. Her characters are endearing and you connect with them right away.
Jase Walker is destitute and lost when he steps on an IED and loses a leg while in the Army. Discharged, his fellow Army buddy suggests that Jase join the security agency his uncle owns. With a new lease on a life and a plan Jase becomes a successful bodyguard and Byrne Security. His latest client, however, tests his patience and challenges him at every turn. He also excites Jase but one thing Jase cannot be is distracted by, Kelly Davis.
Kelly Davis hates to be inconvenienced and a stalker is a major inconvenience. Needing the lie low until the stalker is apprehended, Kelly finds himself in a cabin with his new bodyguard, Jase. What both Kelly and Jase don’t anticipate is the crazy powerful attraction. Both men push the others buttons and they get under each other’s skin fairly quickly.
Jase and Kelly’s story centers around a psychotic, mysterious stalker who’s holding a grudge against Kelly. All the emotions between these men are heightened by the threat of danger lurking around the corning.
This wasn’t my favorite of the two books but I really loved Jase’s character. He won me over with his quiet strength and he complimented Kelly so well. These two are also really hot together so that is of course a huge plus.
Good story flowed really nice and it was engaging.
