Landon knows who he wants, he’s been dreaming about Adam Taggart his whole life. Tag, though? Thinks Landon’s too poor, too young, too wrong to be his.
Landon Gaudet may not be the best bullrider on earth, but he knows that’s where the money is in rodeo. His Cajun heart is more involved with horses, though, and with finding the cowboy he’s been dreaming of all of his relatively short life. Adam Taggart has been around the block more than once, and while he thinks Landon is special, he also thinks the kid deserves better than a safety man with more than his share of notches on the bedpost.
Adam does everything he can to resist Landon, but there’s not a man alive who doesn’t love being loved, so eventually he gives in. Landon can’t believe that Adam is finally with him, that his cowboy has finally come around to his way of thinking. The only problem is that Adam isn’t sure he deserves love, or that he really has any to give. He questions everything from his need for Landon to his family’s assertion that he can do better than a boy from the bayou. Can Landon show Adam that sometimes magic is real, and that all you really need is to have a little faith?
Publisher’s Note: This book has previously been released elsewhere. It has been revised and re-edited for re-release with Pride Publishing.
REVIEW:
I’m fairly certain I say this with every new book I read in this series but really, this series just keeps getting better! I’d been hoping that Adam Taggart would get a book of his own eventually and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. I think I remember seeing Landon as a cameo character at one point but I can’t tell you how pleased I was to officially make his acquaintance as well; both men were about as different as can be aside from a love of horses and some mutual friends but they just worked so beautifully together.
Adam is a bit of a slut; he totally admits it, but regardless of the number of bed partners he’s had, he’s a good man that believes in taking care with the men he’s with and his professional demeanor is much the same. When he meets Landon, he wants the other man but feels the Cajun is too young so he pushes him away ‘for his own good’. Not one to be deterred, Landon doesn’t give up and eventually gets his man; what follows is both passionate and damn near perfect…until Adam’s brother and his inability to stick up for his man loses him the one thing Adam didn’t know he couldn’t live without: Landon.
I love this series. Just, flat out Love It. Each story builds on the previous books while giving me new characters to meet and fall in love with. Landon may not have come from the best background, and he may not have a ton of money, but he was probably one of the hardest working guys in the series that I’ve come across. His refusal to apologize for his upbringing and his pride in his heritage was one of my favorite parts of the book…right up there with him telling Adam what for. Lol
If you enjoy cowboys or anything involving the rodeo, you have got to read this series; while the books do need to be read in order, they are all totally good and you won’t regret any one of them. I will admit to being curious about what was up with Bri during the book, and while I’m not sure when I’ll find that out, I totally plan on enjoying the other books along the way. 😀
