“All I want for Christmas is someone to love.”
Shy retail clerk Elliott Gaffney’s Christmas wish isn’t something Santa can grant him, but that doesn’t stop it from being his favorite time of year. Especially since he gets to work at Chicago’s prestigious Ashby’s department store in “the North Pole,” doing his part to make the magic of Christmas come alive for others.
All Bennett “Ash” Ashby wants for Christmas is to forget about it. Unfortunately, his father is forcing him to pay penance for the media frenzy caused by his latest public sex scandal. The Ashby heir, working as a lowly department store Santa? Only the fact that no one will know it’s really him can save Ash the embarrassment of being stuck in a fat suit instead of partying with his friends.
But when Elliott catches Ash’s eye, Christmas starts to look a whole lot brighter. And even though Elliott would never have the guts to say yes if he knew who Ash really was, falling for “Ben,” the new Santa, is another story all together…
REVIEW:
This story was absolutely adorable, almost too adorable for me, but adorable nonetheless. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I really enjoy books of serial bad boys finding love and getting tamed. If you’re like me and enjoy that type of thing then you will wholeheartedly enjoy this book.
Even though this isn’t my most favorite type of story I did rather enjoy this author’s writing style. I have a couple more books by her and I’m eager to read them. She has a way of writing that captures the reader’s attention.
All I Want is an adorably sweet Christmas story centering on promiscuous bad boy “Ben”nett Ash Ashby and sweet store clerk/Christmas enthusiast Elliot Gaffney.
Ben is the baddest of bad boys. Coming from money he has never lacked of anything. Enjoying his media ladened jet setting life is all Ben needs. Until his latest debacle comes with severe repercussions. Cut off and sent to Chicago in exile Ben finds himself pretending to be someone else serving as Santa in one of his families retail stores. At first Ben is angry at his father for this punishment that is until he meets Elliott.
Elliott lives for the Christmas season. With a heart of gold he dives into the holidays giving all he can, when he can. He is not prepared for the “new” Santa to be so undeniably gorgeous and he slowly realizes the attraction is mutual.
Entering into a tentative relationship Ben knows his secrets could put an end to his growing feelings for Elliott.
When everything comes out into the open things turn out as you can imagine but feelings have already been developed and both men have to figure out if they have a future together.
I really loved Ben’s character. He has an extreme about face in his personality and in my opinion it didn’t seem phony. I truly believed his feelings for Elliott. Together, they balance each other and it’s really beautiful.
Like I mentioned this story is super sweet…almost too much and it did drag at times. I feel like quite a bit could have been cut out and it wouldn’t have affected the story negatively.
Overall, this was really cute with great writing.
