When is it the wrong time to find Mr. Right? For David, that time is now. He’s caring for his homophobic father, who has Alzheimer’s, and his personal life is the last thing he has time to focus on. But when his father wanders off, David is forced to reach out to the police, in the person of Detective Travis Hart. Travis is gay, tired of the club life and twinks he can’t keep up with, and longs for a real relationship with a man who wants the same—maybe someone remarkable like David. In fact, David is exactly who he has been looking for, but Travis isn’t sure he can be the man David needs during this difficult time.
Because as David’s father sinks deeper into the disease that’s robbing him of his memories, David really needs a friend, not a lover. Though Travis is determined to support David in whatever way he can, David’s decision could lead both men into a situation with no possibility of a happy resolution.
First Edition published by Amber Quill Press, 2009.
REVIEW:
David’s father David Senior has Alzheimer’s but David has made a promise that he would keep his father with him as long as he can. Unfortunately, David Senior is deteriorating faster than David is comfortable with. One night David returns home from work to discover his father is missing. At the police station David talks to a Detective Travis Hart.
Travis has recently come to terms with the fact that he’s getting older, not old! just older and he can’t keep up with the young twinks like he used to. He’s just dumped his “boyfriend” Billy when he caught him cheating, twice. When a man comes in to report his father missing everything seems to go haywire and he starts flirting with him but he’s not sure why, it’s all very confusing. Good lord, Travis feels like he’s going crazy! Neither one of them are ready for anything to happen especially not David. About the only thing, David feels ready for is a friend, someone he can talk to and possibly lean on.
David Senior is very confused. He wakes up every morning and everything’s different, things have been moved around in his kitchen, the walls are a different colour and he can’t find his wife. Not only that but there’s a stranger who comes in every day and starts talking to him like David Senior should know who he is. So, one day David Senior goes shopping and finds a nice little hand gun that he can hide in his top draw.
Everything in David’s life is going haywire, every day his father’s condition deteriorates even further but he’s determined not to put him in care. The only bright spot on his radar is Travis, they’ve been spending as much time together as they can and besides his father everything seems to be going very well indeed, so well in fact that David knows there has to be a big fall coming. The fall comes when the housekeeper/carer David hired for David Senior calls him at work; his father has had a complete break with reality! David’s life completely falls apart now and he’s only thankful that he’s got Travis to lean on.
David’s Dilemma is an emotional rollercoaster of a book. If you like to have a cry with your reading, then this is the book for you!! This is the first of Lynn Lorenz’s books I’ve read but it certainly won’t be the last!

Another one to join my LLL – Lynn Lorenz Library! Love all her books and this new one is a must for me!
Sounds cool! I’d say try Lynn’s THE BEST VACATION THAT NEVER WAS, it has everything (laughs, pathos, some seamlessly-incorporated BDSM, and two very sympathetic heroes).
