One night to find the man of his dreams in the least likely place…
Airman Tate Gibson thought going to a party at the local college with his friends would take his mind off his troubles. He’ll head back to Korea in two days’ time—after the funeral of his baby sister. He’s always taken responsibility for her and he’s not ready to deal with her being gone. He wants someone to help him deal with his sadness and give him a reason to get through his deployment.
Raine has had a crush on his neighbor across the hallway, but once he spots the hunky airman his thoughts center on Tate. He wants to strip the handsome blue-eyed hunk down and lick him everywhere, but geeks like Raine never get the man. He’s stuck playing the perpetual wallflower.
Will one night tear them apart before things get hot or will it be enough to bring these two wounded souls together for a long-term engagement?
Publisher’s Note: This book has previously been released as part of the Brothers in Arms anthology with Pride Publishing.
REVIEW:
Tate Gibson has come home from his tour of duty to bury his younger sister. To take his mind off what was going to happen the next day Tate has decided to take his friend Blake up on his invitation to a party. The only thing wrong with going to one of Blake’s party’s is that they’re always full of young, drunk/high college students and he’s just not sure he can handle that right now. Once Tate is inside he’s positive he doesn’t want to be there. When he’s leaving Tate literally runs into a cute guy with the bluest eyes he’d ever seen.
Raine can’t believe his luck when the cutest guy he’d just about ever seen ran into him leaving one of his neighbour’s party’s. When Tate agrees to come in for a beer Raine jumps at the chance to get to know him better, he has to make sure he’s not Blake’s boyfriend or anything! When Tate makes it clear that he’s very attracted to him and wouldn’t mind taking things further Raine isn’t sure if he’s joking or not, the last man he’d asked out told him he was too nerdy and no he wouldn’t go out with him. He can’t believe his luck when Tate agrees to stay the night.
After Raine and Tate have hot and hard sex, they talk and get to know each other. Tate realises Raine has got a very poor self-image and virtually no self-confidence thanks to the men who have turned him down “nastily” in the past. Tate tells Raine about how when they were kids his mother put him in charge of his younger sister Evie. Evie was beautiful blonde hair and legs. He used to chase the boys away from her until he decided to enlist in the Air Force. Evie started dating troublemaker Aaron and there was nothing but trouble form then on. Now Tate had to bury his sister because she got into a car with Aaron who had been drinking and wrapped the car around a telephone pole!
Raine can’t believe a stud like Tate would ever be interested in a nerdy geek like him but Tate is still there right beside him the next morning. He’s still trying to come to terms with the fact that Tate wants him to go to the funeral with him. Tate needs Raine to be at the funeral for him because he knows his mother is going to blame him for Evie’s death as she refuses to see what Aaron is actually like. She sees a good man not the sloppy drunk who sells pills and gets high all the time. In fact they both blame Tate because he has his own life and wasn’t there to stop her from getting in the car.
One Night With You is all about being so overwhelmed with grief and needing someone to show you they care, even if it’s not real. We all have our own ways of dealing with grief but it’s especially hard when the one person who is supposed to be there for you turns around and blames you for something that you clearly have nothing to do with. I cant urge you strongly enough to get a copy and find out if Tate and Raine find a love that is strong enough to withstand Tate’s tour overseas.
