BLURB:
Werebear Trey feels totally out of place when he hires on at Hot Tin Roof as a bouncer. There are all these beautiful men who dance at the club, like Sammy, and like Sammy’s bartender boyfriend, Jordan. Then there’s the fact that most guys look at a big, burly guy like Trey and think he’s a top, when Trey is anything but.
Sammy meets Trey and he knows the big guy is just the subby bottom he and his werecat shifter lover need. Jordan is such an effortless top, and he makes Sammy feel like a rock star, but they could both open their hearts to take Trey in. Can they convince this homeless bear he has a place with them?
REVIEW:
More shifter fun! I just finished Hot Tin Roof, the first book in this series, and happily moved on to this one.
This time we get a dancer/firestarter, a bar tender/cat shifter, and their new playmate, a bouncer/bear. Sammy and Jordan work at Hot Tin Roof, when a new man comes in looking for a job. Trey is down on his luck and looking for a place to crash and make some money to get his car fixed, before moving on. The owner of the club hires him as a bouncer, and Sammy and Jordan welcome him with open arms. Trey is super shy, we never really get his full story, but there is some drama and loneliness in his past. He’s not sure what the other two are offering him, and he’s afraid to take it when he realizes what is offered.
I liked this story as well as the first one. I had hoped that we might get a glimpse at Aleks and Rafe, but we didn’t. This story focuses all on the threesome as they sort themselves out. There is also a touch of D/s in this book, Jordan is a top, Sammy and Trey submissive. The three have a hot and sexy scene, but mostly this is about taming and reassuring the shy Trey.
It’s a fun little story, not a lot of plot, but the sweetness of the characters makes up for that. Trey seems like a true love, gentle and sweet, just needing someone to love him back. Sammy is a high energy bit of sass, and Jordan the calm balance. I liked the three of them together very much. Maybe it’s because I didn’t know them as a couple, I was ok with the pair taking on a third. Sometimes I have a hard time with that if the couple has a long history that we get to know. This worked just fine for me. I liked the sex scene and how Jordan managed all of them. I liked the writing style, all of the dialogue flowed, and the story moved along at a good pace. It’s a short book, so we get in, get a story and get out. I’ve enjoyed my afternoon reading the two books in this series, and I’ll keep an eye out for more!
