BLURB:
Griff: I learned early on that the easiest way to avoid a broken heart is to always be the first out the door. Caring about anyone or anything is asking to be disappointed, which is why I avoid relationships and chase freelance gigs — ghost writing restaurant reviews and penning articles about the efficacy of cheesy pick up lines — instead of chasing my dreams.
Besides, dreams don’t come true for people like me. And no one, not even the sexy-as-hell bartender at the club can convince me otherwise. Because I’m never risking my heart again.
Sam: As a bartender I’ve watched a million pick-up artists work their magic, but none as talented as Griffin Marian. He’s a flirt, a good time. Hooking up with him was supposed to be just a fling. I wasn’t supposed to care abut his fractured past or his buried dreams. I have my own future to worry about, especially after that stupid food critic scuttled my hopes of finally opening my own restaurant.
But, the more time I spend with Griff, the more I’m beginning to realize that my plans mean nothing without him. If only I can convince him to give us a chance to follow our dreams together.
Fair warning: this book includes flirty sweetness, detailed descriptions of man parts touching, and the dirtiest thing to come out of Aunt Tilly’s mouth yet.
Grounding Griffin is the fourth book in the best-selling Made Marian series. It can be read on its own but is much more fun read as part of the series. The series begins with Borrowing Blue and each book follows a Marian brother’s search for his HEA.
REVIEW:
Did I look forward to this book? YES! I have to say I feel lucky to have discovered this series at the end of last year and immediately got grabbed by the stories, the Marian family and their men (and woman).
From the first book “Borrowing Blue” through “Taming Teddy” followed by “Judging Jude” and now book 4 which brings us to the first adopted son in the Marian family, Griffin.
I have to admit that Griffin grabbed my heart and ran with it. The insecurity, the fear, the loss, the wanting, all the emotions hit me deep down. Together with his love interest Sam, who is beyond adorable, gentle, kind and patient they make this story a near perfect read. Author Lucy Lennox seems to be capable of making each book in this series a fantastic, unique, intense and lets not forget sexy story very worth reading.
This story has it all…a background story that you want to read to know where Griffin is coming from and a willingness to stay honest no matter what despite what it might cost you. There’s a family brought together by plain and simple love and caring and a strong belief in what is meant to be will be become truth.
What I really want to mention is the fact that I feel so incredibly happy that author Lucy Lennox brings back the family in her books. It makes the books even more of a treasure to read because you can catch up quickly with the other men and it makes you feel connected to all of them even when you are reading the next book in the series.
This reader is already looking forward to book 5 which will bring us Maverick’s story and after I assume Dante’s. I hope the author will continue following this series up with perhaps a spin-off as there definitely had been introductions to friends of the Marian Men and their loved ones who so deserve their own HEA.
A well deserved 5 shiny hearts for this.
