Love Bytes welcomes author C.J. Lynne to their blog to talk about her book “Worth the Risk”, book 1 in the Infinity Series.
Welcome C.J.
I found and fell in love with the M/M Erotic Romance genre about six years ago and since then I’ve been hooked. There are a number of reasons why I prefer M/M romances and when I asked various women who also read the genre what they like about it, I wasn’t surprised to learn that their responses were very similar to mine.
First and foremost, there are no rules—when writing/reading about two male leads, any and everything goes, and I love that. It’s freeing and fun to write for two men because I don’t have to second-guess myself with them. I don’t have to worry that the reader will think my characters are too bold, brash or brazen. I can have two men say exactly what’s on their minds without feeling the need to censure their speech or actions because one of them is a woman—which let’s face it, has to be done when writing a M/F story because there are things it’s just not acceptable for a traditional heroine to say or do.
Two men can really press the limits with each other in ways a man and woman couple just can’t. In a traditional M/F romance, the woman character can’t curse, behave badly or slug her love interest in the face without the reader gaining a negative connotation of her. Honestly, how would you feel about a woman who did any of those things? You’d probably say, “What kind of lady is she?” Am I right?
I believe the M/M couple is much more realistic and empathetic than the traditional M/F because they can afford to be less than perfect. A male lead can engage in sexual exploits while pursuing or running from his co-lead. He might have or have had a substance abuse problem and can be a total ass. In other words, he can be fatally flawed, yet readers still will accept him and his faults in a way they never would were the same vices present in a heroine.
Male couples are exciting and burn-the-house-down sexy. I mean, is there anything better than reading about two strong-willed, alpha males acting out as only men can do—fighting, hating, loving and then finally letting go and admitting and showing graphically how much they want each other? Two men who possess many of the same character traits (by virtue of them both being men) lead to a red-hot, emotional read that gets the blood revving and keeps the fingers turning pages.
In summary, the draw of M/M romances is that they are HOT, sinfully sexy, no-holds barred, emotional reads that push the envelope. I’ll extremely glad I ventured into the genre and will read and write them from now on.

Genre: Gay/Lesbian, M/M Erotic Romance
Publisher: C.J. Lynne
Publication Date: November 7, 2016
Synopsis:
Love doesn’t exist…
Or so Tyler Johnson thinks. He’s never had much, if any, of it thrown his way. A chance meeting with the enigmatic Jaxon Markham causes Ty to—if still not believe in love—at least know without a doubt that lust is alive and well. Ty’s not looking for forever, but what’s the harm in spending a few days—and scorching nights—with Jax; as long as Jax plays by his rules and keeps things casual and uncomplicated?
Jax knows his luck has finally changed for the better when he lays eyes on Tyler. The man is gorgeous, and stirs feelings in Jax he’d thought he’d never experience. The more time Jax spends with Ty, the more certain he is that Ty’s his soulmate. Now all that remains is convincing the stubborn Tyler of that fact, but Jax is more than up for the task, because he’s nothing if not persistent—a fact the elusive Tyler will soon find out.
Jax quickly, and much too easily, demolishes all of Ty’s protective walls and Ty reluctantly begins to think that maybe that intangible emotion called love is alive and well after all, and perhaps finally within his grasp. However, when his ugly past returns to haunt him, making him doubt all the good he’s experienced with and because of Jax, Ty’s positive outlook crumbles, giving way to doubt and despair.
Can he be the man Jax needs and deserves? Or will past and present demons destroy Ty’s one chance at true happiness?

Thank you for the interview C.J. You list all the reasons why I love MM books so much and prefer them over MF romances.
Sounds really good. Another addition to my TBR list!
Thank you for the post, CJ and best wishes with your upcoming book release. I think I started to read MM romance five or six years ago, sort of a step up after some Yaoi manga and novel 😉 and aggresively hoarding and reading MM romance for a couple of years. I don’t read them exclusively nowadays though; still reading MF too and some of them have imperfect, prone to cuss but still kick-ass female characters. Whether MM or MF I try to read all kind of genres and tropes they have, as not to limit my reading options. 🙂
Thanks for the post and giveaway chance.
I’m completely agree with you, those are the same reasons I love this genre.
You are a new author to me, I can’t wait to check your books. =)
Thanks to Love bytes for having me today and to everyone for posting. Good luck in the giveaway!
Congrats on the new release
MM is definitely the best romance!
I’ve already read this selection and loved it! I can’t wait for the February release of Finally Letting Go. What a wonderful valentine gift for everyone. HEA’s are my most favorite of all the genre. I’ve almost given up on MF books since they seem to have it so ‘easy’ in today’s society.
I definitely agree with you (and those covers made me look twice, good grief)!
Congrats on the new book release! It looks fantastic.
Thanks for the post & congrats on the new release!
Sounds interesting, thank you for the post
Congrats and thanks for the giveaway. I liked your reasons for writing M/M romance, and wish you luck with our release.
