Love Bytes is excited to welcome author Nick Wilgus to their blog to show you the brand new cover for upcoming release “Ringo and the Sunshine Police”.
Nick gives us a short intro to the cover and he also brought with him a wonderful giveaway!
Welcome Nick 🙂
I’m grateful to Garrett Leigh for this cover to RINGO AND THE SUNSHINE POLICE. It conveys the gist of the story – music, a little kid, and hints of mystery and possibility. And oh, by the way, it’s gorgeous!
This is the fifth book I’ve written about the adventures of gay dads and their kids. Each has been special, but this one more so since I recently became a licensed foster part and I drew on some of my own experiences while writing this book. Life seems to be imitating art, in my case, as I will soon be a dad again.
Your readers may be interested to know that when I began writing RINGO, gay marriage was illegal in the state of Mississippi, where I live, and gay couples were not allowed to adopt children. By the time I finished the book, marriage equality had become a reality and the ban on adoption by gay couples had been struck down. The book reflects some of those profound changes — and the opportunities they offer.
Many thanks to Love Bytes for introducing RINGO to the world.

Blurb:
Thomas, an older gay musician living in a small Southern town, is ready to start a family. He fosters Jeremy, a special needs boy with no arms, and teaches him to play the drums so Jeremy can realize his potential to do anything he wants. Though it takes him time, Thomas’s closeted boyfriend Randy steps out of the shadows to be a part of what Thomas is trying to build. With the advent of marriage equality, it’s a different world out there—one where the three of them have the chance to be a family.
But no one ever said it would be easy. The foster system is far from perfect, especially when it comes to kids in Jeremy’s situation.
Just as Jeremy is starting to settle in and thrive, his biological father reappears, demanding custody. Thomas and Randy know the man is unfit to care for Jeremy, but the law says otherwise. It seems like they’re the only ones looking out for Jeremy’s best interests, and they’re facing an uphill battle if they want to keep their new family together.

Congrats on the release of your new book. There are a lot of delicate topics you are addressing in the book. I’m curious to see how you solved these problems.
Oh I hope this works out. I have seen too many mistakes made for the sake of the parent and not the child.
