ATF agents Thayne Wolfe and Jarrett Evans are back and this time, they’ll be facing a familiar foe. International arms dealer, Mills Lang, has acquired a stolen cache of tabun, a powerful nerve agent, to sell to the highest bidder. The last thing either Thayne or Jarrett wants to do is get involved with the psychopath again but duty calls. Jarrett is sent in undercover as an Iranian who’s looking to trade cold hard cash to stop the deadly weapon’s sale only to learn he has to bid against the world’s nastiest scumbags.
Thayne has spent countless nights lost in the nightmare of what happened when he’d been undercover in Lang’s organization. The time has come to face old demons and save thousands of lives, putting Lang down like the rabid animal he is. Unfortunately, the assignment requires Thayne to sit helplessly on the sidelines, forced to watch the man he loves put himself in the monster’s path.
Jarrett has revenge on his mind. Holding Thayne when he’s woken screaming from nightmares, he wants the mad man responsible, behind bars or better yet, dead. Unfortunately, the assignment involves getting close to a former lover. Gorgeous Mossad agent, Adael Dayan, is Jarrett’s only way into Lang’s circle with Thayne forced to watch from the sidelines. Thayne and Jarrett have faced the Devil before, but always together. Will this case drive a wedge between them or will their love endure?
“Locked and Loaded” Contains an exciting excerpt from “Point and Shoot” (Death and Destruction Book 5)
REVIEW:
I was eager, yet a bit worried, for this release. I love Thayne and Jarrett, but was very apprehensive and nervous about the return of Mills Lang.
Thayne Wolfe and Jarrett Evans are back from the coal mines of West Virginia, deeply committed and in love. While in West Virginia, they were able to let down their guard about who they are and what they mean to each other. Now that they are back in Los Angeles, they have to hide their relationship so they won’t be separated as partners in the ATF. But, when Thayne’s worst nightmare and evil nemesis, Miles Lang, is back under the FBI and ATF’s radar, a separation has to occur. Jarrett is needed to go undercover and Thayne, who Lang has hired as an assassin in the past to try and kill him for his betrayal, can’t be seen. To add salt to the wound, Jarrett is partnered with the gorgeous Adael Dayan, a Mossad agent that has been undercover for a bit in Lang’s operation. Not only has Jarrett worked with Adael in the past on military ops but they were also former lovers. Locked and Loaded is their newest and most dangerous mission yet. It is so full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat and turning pages at lightening speed.
I have loved both these men. They are strong, loyal and devoted alpha men who have a trunk full of skeletons that haunt them. When this series began, Thayne was at the mercy and control of Jarrett. At times he seemed to feel less of a man but that simply wasn’t true. I am thrilled with the redirection this series has taken. It has moved to a equal partnership where both men need and depend on their bond. At times, either one is in control. It has been a pleasure to watch Jarrett transform from his old, non-trusting alpha self to an equal partner that can let his guard down and trust his lover and partner completely to take care of not only him but also his needs.
I have read some rather vile characters in the past but I don’t believe I have ever read a character so evil and beyond redemption. This book took me longer than usual to read. I typically read in the evenings but Miles Lang is so beyond the usual disgusting and evil nemesis that I was fearful of nightmares. He is literally a demented psychopath that has no conscience.
As I stated before, I love how this series has morphed and the change in Jarrett and Thayne’s relationship dynamics. Can’t wait for the next in this series and to see where their relationship future is headed. First book for me this new year and it’s a doozy!!!
