When Theo Samuels heads off to film on location in the village of Stoneydale, he’s expecting drama to take place on camera, not off. But when he meets gorgeous local lad Eddie Henderson, he struggles to ignore his attraction. A relationship between the two of them would be utterly impractical, yet they’re drawn together nonetheless. Can they overcome the seemingly endless hurdles between them? Or is their fling destined to remain as just that?
REVIEW:
Okay, so while looking for a cute short story to listen to in between longer audiobooks, I ran across Love on Location by Lucy Felthouse. The premise looked interesting, and just before adding it to my “to be considered” list, I saw that it was narrated by Joel Leslie. Yep, that totally tipped the scales for me, and I immediately requested it. And, it was a great decision to do so.
Theo Samuels is an actor on set at his new film, but before filming starts, feels that his character is still missing something. After coming across Eddie Henderson, the gardner for the estate they are filming on, he decides to ask the man for advice on where to go around town in order to get a feel for the local area and town. Instead of simply giving Theo a list of places to check out, Eddie offers to take the actor around town himself and show him the sights.
While exploring the local sights, the two men form a friendship. And, as filming of the movie commences, Theo and Eddie are able to hang out a bit on set, and spend even more time off set as well. Unbeknownst to each other is that they are both attracted to one another. Theo is in the closet for the time being, because he thinks his career will be affected. But, Eddie is neither openly out, nor closeted. Then, Theo makes an off the cuff, spur of the moment invitation to Eddie to join him at his home in London, between films. An invitation he immediately regrets.
What happens when Eddie finds out that Theo regrets inviting him to London? Do the two men find out that not only is the other gay, but in love with one another as well? Can a gardener have a real, long lasting relationship with an actor?
Love on Location by Lucy Felthouse was a short, quick listen impeccably narrated by Joel Leslie. Not only did I enjoy the story, but liked it even more, being able to listen to Joel Leslie’s voice whilst enjoying the story. Thank you to both Lucy Felthouse and Joel Leslie for a job well done!
