BLURB:
Mason Collier isn’t big on authority figures. When Office Steve Coleman pulls him over and gives him a speeding ticket, he doesn’t react well. He’s even less happy when he discovers the cop lives next door to his parents’ house.
No matter where they turn this holiday season, Steve and Mason keep running into each other, and whenever they talk for more than a minute, they piss each other off. But from wayward dogs to Christmas tree hunts to maple syrup festivals, it proves impossible to avoid each other in the small town.
If Mason can see the good man behind the badge, he might just get a cop for Christmas.
REVIEW:
This was one of those Facebook finds. I saw a post about the book, jumped on Amazon and grabbed a copy through my Kindle Unlimited account and was off.
I really liked this Christmas story. I really liked the fact that it was set very close to where I’m from in the North Country region of New Hampshire, and I liked the small town feel to the read.
Mason Collier is hurrying to his parent’s new home in a small town in northern New Hampshire. Mason lives at the southern end of the state, so it was a bit of a drive, and he is hurrying to get to the end of the ride. Almost there, he flies by a town cop, who stops him and gives him a ticket for more than $200 for speeding. What a jerk. A really attractive jerk, but still a jerk.
Steve Coleman is a lifelong resident of the small town, and is just doing his job when he stops the bright yellow Subaru flying down the road…just around a corner from where a bunch of kids are sliding on a hill adjacent to the road. The speeder is kind of a jerk. A really attractive jerk, but still a jerk.
You can see where I’m going here. Turns out the speeder is the son of Steve’s new neighbors, and home for the holidays. Then when Mason’s mom tries to fix him up with a guy named Sam, who it turns out is Steve’s ex, things get interesting.
Not a lot else I can tell you about the story without doing major spoilers, so I’ll just tell you I really liked this one. I recommend you give it a try.
