TITLE: Bite Night
SERIES: 2016 Dreamspinner Press Advent Calendar – Bah Humbug
AUTHOR: Clare London
PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press
LENGTH: 30 Pages
RELEASE DATE: December 1, 2016
BLURB:
Creatures of the Night and Santa’s Christmas duties don’t mix. Every myth and bedtime story tells you so.
But on Christmas Eve, when the Elves walked off the job over pension rights, it was time for me—Irwin, the only vampire on Santa’s payroll, despite recent diversity initiatives—and my trusty team to help out. Just deliver a few parcels, Santa asked me. Just help out on your local patch. Just for one night.
Armed with my reluctance to face all that human sentimentality, and accompanied by a wise-cracking werewolf and an unruly fairy with a taste for vodka, I did my best. Honest.
But we were heading for disaster until I came face-to-face with cute babysitter Benny. It’s Santa’s Number One Rule—no interaction with the clients. But Benny somehow managed to upset my appetite, inflame my libido, and restore my faith in the Christmas spirit, with one cheeky smile and a tasty body piercing.
It’s Christmas, and the show must go on!
REVIEW:
This was such a fun little story!
Our main character is Irwin, a nineteenth century vampire who has a management position with the North Pole’s topdog – Santa. When the elves decide to strike on Christmas Eve, Irwin and his fellow “Creatures of the Night” are drafted into delivering the presents to the children of an upper class neighborhood. It’s there that Irwin and his delivery team meet babysitter, Benny. Cute, young, vampire groupie Benny, who is pretty much ready to drop trou just as soon as Irwin’s fangs make an appearance.
Now this was insta-lust/love of the Christmas miracle variety. They lock eyes and they’re hooked, but hey, who am I to say how a vampire falls in love!? The author did a great job of building the sexual tension between the men and then letting those sparks ignite.
The interaction between Irwin and Benny was cute and sexy and humorous all rolled into thirty short pages. Add to that the characters of snarky, drooly werewolf, Wulf and the slightly inebriated sprite, Zilith and there was plenty here to keep a reader entertained.
Despite the fact that this is only a short story, Clare London’s polished writing shines through as per usual.
I just wish that I could see what happens next! Yes, that was a hint for the author 😉

I liked this one, though I did think it was the start of a joke – “a werewolf, a sprite and a vampire break into a house” sort of thing!
Enjoyed the British humour
