BLURB:
Can these two opposites find the right rhythm? Jon Kagan likes his life. He’s carefree unless he’s in the recording studio with his trumpet. Then he’s serious as hell. He plays the field like he does the notes on each track, but the single life isn’t fun any longer. He wants a lover and partner. But how can he find the man of his dreams when the only people he spends time with are the same musician’s night after night? He’s convinced he won’t–until he meets Benny. Then all bets are off.
Benny Walters burns the midnight oil, too, but not in the music business. He’d rather work on houses than play tunes. Putting in a good sweat over a flooring job or painting a room makes him happy–almost as much as watching the hot guy who jogs across the neighbourhood in the middle of the day. When he finally talks to Jon, sparks fly. He’d love to get to know Jon better, but confidence isn’t his strong point. Will he be able to get beyond his past and find the future he deserves?
Love happens in the strangest places, especially when it hits all the right notes.
REVIEW:
Jon Kagan is a carefree musician, he single, he used to like playing the field but when he’s in the recording studio playing his trumpet then he’s very serious. Jon has discovered that the single life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, he wants to find a man he can settle down with, a man who will be his lover and his partner. Whilst on his usual mid-afternoon run Jon noticed a contractor working on a beautiful old house. He doesn’t think the builder has noticed him until the day he gets accosted by an acquaintance who hasn’t learnt to accept that no is no! On that day while Jon is busy trying to get rid of his would-be suitor they are interrupted by the hunky builder asking for Jon’s opinion on paint colour.
Benny Walters has noticed the hot guy running past the house he’s working on almost daily. When Benny notices that the man is being harassed by someone he does the only thing he can think of and runs down to ask him about paint colour. When the man gratefully runs with the question and comes up to house with him Benny can’t believe his luck. They start discussing the fact that Jon had been thinking about renovating his place but as he could never think of where to start he never started. After this initial meeting, Benny and Jon look forward to seeing each other and this time Jon gets up his courage to ask Benny for a kiss.
As Jon and Benny are getting to know each other they discover that they are having men-issues. Benny’s wants him back because he’s between men and Jon has discovered that one of the musicians he plays with is having a hard time taking no for an answer. Jon discovers that Benny has an incredibly low opinion of himself because of his ex-boyfriends constantly telling him that he’s plain and slow. It didn’t help that none of them ever wanted to hear about Benny’s childhood, the fact that he grew up homeless, in fact when he tried to explain this they completely ignored him. One major point in Jon’s favour is that he listens to Benny and he never makes him feel less than he is.
Beautiful Music Together is a feel-good story about two men at a crossroads in their life who make the effort to get to know each other then become determined to stay together. Please take the time to read this story as I have little doubts that you thoroughly enjoy it from start to finish.
