It’s been three months since the team were instructed to stay off the mountain, and Christian is going a little stir crazy. Until one rainy afternoon an object crashes into the water in Singing Bear Village, creating temporary chaos and confusion in the peaceful lakeside community. Given past events, Christian and his crew call Ogden, and their boss brings a specialized team to take over the situation, shutting out local law enforcement.
But Sheriff Myles Murphy doesn’t like being shut out, and is furious to have his authority superseded. Christian assures his boss that he can handle the local sheriff and assuage his suspicions, but it won’t be so easy. Because while Christian has harbored a secret crush on the man for two years, Sheriff Myles Murphy despises him.
REVIEW:
Christian grabbed me right away while I was reading book 1 so I was very eager for his story. Book 2 starts not long after book 1 ends. We’re still wrapped up tight in the mystery of the “Whites” but now there is a new danger surrounding Singing Bear Village which leaves the reader with even more questions. I cannot express to you about how addicting these books are. They’re longer reads but full of steam, sci fi elements, and incredibly interesting story lines.
Christian along with several very close friends essentially is in charge of investigating extraterrestrial activities in Singing Bear Village. Christian knows his job is important but he’s restless and lonely especially after watching his friend and ex fall in love.
Sheriff Myles Murphy doesn’t really think much of bad boy in town Christian. Of course he’s sexy as sin but he’s a troublemaker so nothing could possibly become of the two.
Christian and Myles’s relationship develops under rocky conditions so their stability is very fragile. Tons of secrets surround Christian and he’s not at liberty to discuss any of his work with Myles which causes extreme tension and dissention in their relationship.
Things come to a head and the danger in the village spikes. Christian and Myles along with Christian’s close friends need to work together to make sure everyone stays safe.
I was surprised to see the return of Baz in this book. It almost seems like Darien Cox is building up to maybe him having his own story which kind of blows me away. I’d be the first in line to read that one and I’m positive I wouldn’t be the only one either.
If you couldn’t tell this was a fantastic addition. Definitely recommend to lovers of the series.
