When CEO Renner Bastion walks into a room, everyone keeps their distance. Well, everyone but the sarcastic, tattooed, Boston-bred security guard whose presence has kept Renner in New Jersey longer than intended. As if the unwanted attraction isn’t unsettling enough, Renner finds out his protector isn’t as unavailable as originally thought.
Milo Bautista just came out to his wealthy, ultra-confident boss, a man he secretly respects and admires…in more ways than he’ll admit. Worldly, experienced Renner would never look in his direction, let alone share some of that confidence he wears like a cloak, so Milo has set his sights on someone else to be his first.
Until Renner offers him private lessons in seduction…
REVIEW:
This is book 4, the first M/M of a M/F series, though it can easily be read as a stand alone. I had no trouble following along, though I did want to go back and read the previous stories when I was finished.
What a fun story this was. Milo was hired by his fellow ex-marine brother for security work at Bastion Industries after an incident at one of the plants. Milo has apparently taken it upon himself to be the protector of the CEO, Renner Bastion. Milo was such a wonderful character. He recently discovered his attraction to men, or one man in particular, and is all gung ho to gain experience and confidence in order to pursue that man. When he sees the confident, sexy, out Renner, he decides to learn all he can. But he has such a fabulous nature about him. He’s funny, snarky and unapologetic and so easy to like.
Renner, on the other hand, is a workaholic, limits his hookups to other likeminded workaholics and is basically all business all the time. Lucky for him, Milo decides he needs a friend. 🙂 It doesn’t take long for Milo to start cracking Renner’s shell, though he puts up a good fight. Milo talks Renner into helping him broaden his gay experience, but this isn’t the typical showing him the gay ropes. Really, it is Milo’s fabulous character that makes this story and what makes it so unique. Milo is just so cute, like when he realizes he likes Renner being the boss man all the time. Queue the stellar dirty talk, which is prevalent throughout this relationship. I’m smiling just thinking about it.
Anyhoo, despite their differences, these guys are perfect for each other. Milo is exactly what Renner needs to wake himself up from working himself to death, take better care of himself and be an all-around happier person. Of course, they go through some bumps in the road while the issue of Milo’s other man still hangs around. But, Milo realizes he didn’t really know what it was he was looking for until he found it. I sure hope this won’t be the last of Ms. Bailey’s M/M adventures, because this one sure was a hit for me.
