BLURB:
Greg is worried about his best friend Kyle. Kyle’s life seems to be spiraling out of control. Greg doesn’t mind picking up the pieces, but his normally smart, ambitious and good-looking friend seems more distracted than usual after his last break-up. And he’s starting to get annoyed at Greg trying to lend him a hand.
What Greg doesn’t realize is that Kyle is keeping something from him… and it could change both of their lives forever.
REVIEW:
Nice, sweet, feel-good short story that was way more than I expected.
Greg is best friends with Kyle but Kyle seems to be having lots of trouble lately and Greg is worried about him. Kyle is between permanent jobs and struggling. He is also finally out of his relationship with his ex. He seems to want to tell Greg something, but is having a really hard time expressing his thoughts, which is totally out of character. When the truth comes out will it be the end of their friendship?
My only question about this story is why Greg would keep the fact that he is bi-sexual, and has been with other men before, a secret from his best friend, when there were reasons why he could easily have told him previously. And then there are other secrets! No spoilers though! I was really surprised how well written, with a full story feel, such a short story could be. I actually felt like I got a feel-good, full experience with this story. Both men were likable and the story line was creative. I never saw the evening at the club coming.
Great, very quick short story that could easily be read on a lunch break.
