Born December 25, Noel Beebe is tired of having his birthday overshadowed by all things Christmas. While looking for love on social media, he comes across a prospective new beau just in time to celebrate the Big 3-0, someone who encourages him to take back his day and say thumbs down to Christmas! On a trip to the Big Apple, Noel does just that, flipping off the Rockefeller Center tree and demanding his coffee in a nondecorative paper cup as a fun birthday prank. His act of defiance is caught on video and soon goes viral, leading to a backlash all over the Twitterverse, Internet, and TV. Suddenly what Noel thought would be his best birthday—and even Christmas—yet is shaping up to be his worst. Can his family and his potential boyfriend prove to the world that Noel isn’t the Scrooge he’s been labeled?
REVIEW:
This is the first of the Dreamspinner Press Advent Calendar stories that I’ve gotten to read this year, and I really, really liked it.
Noel Beebe is a Christmas baby. He was born on the 25th of December and has always had to share his birthday with a Christmas tree. Being a December baby myself, I can sympathize. Imagine if you will what it must be like to have them on the same day!
Noel has vented to his online friends about how bad it is, and in particular to his friend Ethan. Ethan in my personal opinion has a worse birthday of February 29th, so based on birthdays, he is something like 6! Ethan hatches this plan for a fun protest and he and Noel spend the afternoon on the 29th of November going from coffee shop to coffee shop demanding loudly, and with signs, that Noel be given his coffee in non-Christmas cups. And Ethan captures video clips on his phone.
But what happens when the video is leaked online? Something that seems so plausible that it could have come from today’s news. Of course, the haters come out. This guy doesn’t like Christmas after all! Why he must be un-American, some sort of communist, and the list goes on. Poor Noel just wants it all to go away.
I found the tale delightful. It kept me entertained and chuckling the whole way through. If this is any example of the other stories this year, it is going to be a great Advent Calendar.
I recommend you pick this story up. It is all too plausible in today’s world.

Thus sounds like a really good story to start the Christmas season off with. Thank you for the review!
This one sounds incredibly fun!
This is an all too plausible scenario and sounds like a fun story. Thanks for the review!
Sounds like a really good Christmas story, different and funny. Definitely one to my TBR list 😉
Seems like a fun read.
I have a daughter who decided to arrive early instead of Christmas day so I sympathise. 28 years on and we still wait until after her birthday to put up Christmas decorations etc.
Lol, I actually really like the title. It made me laugh. It sounds like a really fun read. Thank you for the review =)
Yep, I can really relate as I have been accused of being a scrooge by giving my daughter a Christmas eve birthday to save money! Will be reading this for sure. 😊

Great review. The story sounds so plausible and I can understand why someone with a birthday on Christmas would lash out.
The cover is so cute *lol*
This sounds like a fun story, thanks for your review 🙂
The cover is great on this one! Would get me buying it if I hadnt already got the series. Will look forward to it
Have read this one now and enjoyed it a lot! It was fast paced but also had a few lessons about social media – and the storm around the posts of Noel’s anti christmas day out was all too believable
I liked a lot the title !!!
Thanks for the review! The cover made me chuckle. Will have to add this to the TBR list.
