Archangel Chronicles: Book Seven
After the theft and recovery of the Holy Grail, saving all of creation from destruction, and almost losing Michael, Archangel Gabriel devoutly hopes for nothing more dangerous than a stubbed toe. So when Archangel Michael sends a pack of his Venatores and two of Gabriel’s trackers on a rescue mission, Gabriel believes it’s purely routine. No one is prepared for the danger and terror the Venatores find. What they face is torture, kidnapping, medical experiments, vivisection, and the enemies’ desire to remove all nonhumans—including shifters—from Earth forever. The supposedly routine rescue mission turns into a struggle for survival, and Gabriel and Michael face a terrifying new foe, and a threat to not just their existence and love but to the existence of everything they know. If the Brotherhood of Archangels and their allies can’t prevail, all will be lost.
REVIEW:
This is officially my favorite book in the series so far! The Venatores, while met and utilized in previous stories, were really given the chance to shine in this one and I loved getting to see the entire group working together. The book itself started out fairly laid back and it was really great getting to see all of my favorite characters able to relax and have fun, especially with the way the series has gone so far. I also really enjoyed getting to learn more background information about Baxter and Danny as it made understanding their characters a bit easier.
One of the things I liked about the book was that, besides the Venatores getting some time front and center, is that the overall tone seemed different than it was in the previous installments. It really felt as though I was reading a mystery novel with some paranormal and horror elements added in for extra spice; it was completely unexpected but well done and highly entertaining. I’m also totally loving that in this new story arc, the baddies are humans instead of an angel, demon, or other paranormal entity.
I just really enjoyed this book! lol Like the story arcs that have come before in the series, this is just the beginning of this new problem so there is no resolution as of yet but I have to say that I am looking forward to seeing where the author goes with it. 🙂 (I’m actually kind of anxious to get started on the new book because I liked this one so much.) If you enjoyed any of the previous books in the series, you’ll definitely like this one and I highly recommend it. I originally gave the book a rating of 4.3* but have rounded it up to 4.5* to work with our rating system.
