This year has been pretty insane, right?
I keep seeing posts about how 2016 is crazy, what with all the deaths and destruction and political upheavals which essentially seem to be pointing to the apocalypse, four years after when everyone thought it was going to happen.
(Admit it, in 2012, you thought about the possibility of shit going down.)
(And also, remember the Y2K scare? Holy shit, were we all stupid back then.)
2016, for me, has been a time of transition, moving from the stability of a 9-5 soul-sucking cubicle job, to taking a crazy-ass chance at writing full time when so many more capable people before me had failed.
But, no one has ever accused me of having an overabundance of brains, so I went and did it anyway.
As of February 2017, it’ll be a year. Can you believe that? Honestly, time has flown by so much that I’m shocked that it’s already November, and the holidays are upon us. This time last year, I was in the planning stages at making this whole writing dream come true, unsure whether or not I had the balls to actually do it. But, if you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know what happened next, so no need to rehash that here anymore than I already have.
Aside from that, I’ve released five books this year, with 2017 having five more. Everything you’ve read this year was written before I quit my job. Everything you’ll read next year will be 100% full-time writing TJ. So, if you notice a bit of desperate exuberance, that’s probably where that came from. Hopefully, that’ll be edited out so you won’t see my manic-ness anymore than you already do.
It’s been good, okay?
Real good.
Oh sure, we’ve had some highs and lows, some announcements of certain book series not getting continued that rankled a few people, but thems the breaks. On the flipside, Lightning is getting made into a play that looks like it’ll debut in April or May of 2017. Normal Person might get made into a movie (still no new updates on that. Hollywood, blech).
I have a lot of things to be grateful for this holiday season.
Namely, all of you who have allowed me to follow my dream as I have.
Thank you.
I won’t have a new post until January, as I do plan on taking next month off from most things social media. By the time I come back, we’ll only be a short while away from the release of my next book, Until You, the wedding of Paul Auster and Vince Taylor. I’m not gonna lie: it’s mostly self-indulgent. I wanted to write it, so I did. But it’s gonna nail you right in the feels when you least expect it, so I hope you’re ready.
I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season, and may 2016 die the death it deserves so we may all not die in waves of fire.
After all, we have four years of a Trump presidency to worry about that.
Tj
TJ, I’ve enjoyed your recent releases sooooo much, and am looking forward to what’s on tap for next year. So—thank you! And have a great holiday!
(Oh, and don’t forget, we’re all hoping for some merchandising! I still want my Wolfsong t-shirt, and a cute little plushie Gary. Heh, heh….)
luv u tj! cant wait to read more about u!
All the best for you in 2017, TJ! Love you, love your books.
Like the above comment, a Wolfsong T-shirt would be awesome!!!
Happy Thanksgiving! And every holiday you celebrate till we see you again. ❤️❤️❤️
Think of 2016 like the emotions of a 14 year old! There are times that we want to go screaming in the forest to live with wolves, there are times that we drink wine by the case, but ultimately we get up and go on every morning because we know that in 4 years they’re moving out and going to college! 😉
Bring on the full-time writing TJ manic-ness!
