Jason Grant runs his own IT business from home, owns his own home, and has the best friend he could imagine. What he doesn’t have, or believe he will ever have, is love. When Jason catches a glimpse of his new neighbor on moving day, his libido ignites and his fascination is piqued. He even manages to concoct an excuse to go over and meet the man who makes him hope and want for more than he has in years.
Keith Skyler is a shifter in a world where his kind is known only to a few, but they don’t often mix and they never mate. Keith has been hoping for a mate since before he can remember, but gay lynx don’t have true mates. As far as he knows, they don’t have mates at all. However, while moving his little family across Seattle – and away from their tribe – his reality tips and spins more than he thought possible.
When these two men meet over a dish of five-cheese broccoli noodle casserole, sparks fly. Who knew a welcome-to-the-neighborhood gift could give both of them their chance at love?
REVIEW:
Okay, let me just say that Tempeste O’Riley has done it yet again. I really enjoyed this book. Even better was Craig Beck’s near flawless narration. *queue dreamy sigh* If you have not listened to this book, please do yourself a gigantic favor and get it. ASAP. If you have had the privilege of listening to this book (or any others as narrated by Craig Beck), please comment below so we can dish and fangirl about how awesome he is!
Anyhoo… On with the review, shall we?
Keith Skyler is the son of the most powerful lynx alpha in the area. He longs for freedom, love, and a bit of privacy from his father’s ultra controlling ways and all seeing (prying more like it) eye. Unfortunately, that means Keith needs to be a bit… proactive, when it comes to making an escape of sorts from his father’s clutches. He bought a house, outside of the lynx territory lands, so Keith and his sister can raise her son together. After all was said and done, and the paperwork signed, then he approached his father requesting to move off of lynx land. Which of course caused his father to get quite upset, but eventually acquiesce. With several conditions, of course.
After leaving ahead of his sister and her son, in order to get the house ready for them, Keith senses something he never thought was possible. He has a mate. And, said mate lives in his neighborhood. His father always told him that alpha’s don’t have mates, much less a human mate at that.
Jason Grant, a self-employed IT whiz, has everything he needs. His own successful business, a house, and a best friend unlike any other. In more ways that one, I might add. When he notices the gorgeous man who just moved in next door, he decides it is only the neighborly thing to bring over a dish to welcome him to the neighborhood. I mean, the man just moved in and probably hasn’t even had time to go grocery shopping. And, Jason can’t let the man starve, right?
Well, when Keith opens his door and sees Jason on his steps, holding a five cheese broccoli noodle casserole in his hands, he cannot believe his eyes. Or his instincts for that matter. The man in front of him, according to his instincts and sense of smell, scream to him that this man is his mate. And, it is instant attraction for Jason as well. Even moreso up close and personal with his new neighbor.
As one thing leads to another, their instant attraction to each other ignites into a passion so great and surprising to each of them that they come together in a very passionate (and quite yummy) way, that starts something neither of them ever expected.
How can Jason, a human, ever accept Keith for who he is (lynx shifter, son of the most powerful lynx alpha, etc…)? Can Keith’s dad accept that his son has a mate, and said mate is both human and male, without it starting a war between father and son? Keith’s father is ruthless, and will stop at nothing to keep his son in line; what’s to keep him from taking the life of his son’s mate?
If you’re thinking something similar to “Woah, woah, woah! What’s this about war and murder? Isn’t this supposed to be a steamy gay romance?” Well, it IS a steamy gay romance. It is also packed with action, intrigue, and a whole lot more. And, Tempeste O’Riley wrote it. That right there should be recommendation enough. So, honestly, please do get the book. Whether it is in eBook, paperback, or audio form, this is an absolute must read in my opinion. It is also, in my opinion, an absolute must to get the audio version. Like I said above, Craig Beck is near flawless in his narration.
