Love Bytes is happy to welcome back to our blog author Brandon Witt.
Brandon is here to talk about his new release “Mapping the Forest”, part one of his brand new Rocky Mountain Boys series.
Brandon talks about ….Dogs 😉 and brought along a wonderful giveaway !
Welcome Brandon 🙂
I write a gross number of words about people. About their relationships, romances, hurts, dreams, families, idiosyncrasies. So much so that others should believe that I love, love, love being around people.
I don’t.
I like people enough. I love many of them. I adore several of them. I wish no one ill will. However, I am no longer a people person.
With the exception of my boyfriend, family, and work, I can go weeks and not talk to anyone. Anyone. And I love it.
Hermit powers activate!
I am not a people person.
I am a DOG person.
I am that cliché who finds the dog at a party (If I’m dragged to a party) and talks to him or her all night. I’ll do that same with kids, but I prefer dogs, if there is a choice.
In the Rocky Mountain Boy series, there is one very special character. He makes his introduction early on in Mapping the Forest, and he will be in every book that follows, until he is fully featured in Book Five (if you’ve already read Mapping the Forest, I just unintentionally told you which of the friends book five is about).
My original corgis were featured in my book, Then the Stars Fall. They both passed shortly after publication. It was such an amazing experience for so many to have read that book as experience the grief that came through Facebook when they died by people who acted like they knew and loved them, because they’d read about them. It made my pain a bit more palpable and made it seem that they’d been elevated to immortal in some ways.
Well, now it is my Alastair’s turn. Alastair was left at the edge of a forest in Kansas about a year and a half ago, a place known for being where people get rid of their unwanted pets. He ended up at a corgi rescue, and then came to live with me. He was timid, afraid, jittery. He’s a different dog now. Still serious but content, happy, and calm. One of the friends in the Rocky Mountain Boys series is in a stage of grief and pain. There was only one solution. Alastair. They will heal together.
I’m excited for you to get to know the men and women of Mapping the Forest and the rest of the Rocky Mountain Boys series, but I’m most excited for you to get to know Alastair!

Mapping the Forest Blurb:
Happily ever after has no map, but sometimes fate sends a guiding light.
Gabe Rice, a seasonal ranger at the Rocky Mountain National Park, can’t seem to get his life on the right trail. He loves the rugged beauty of the land, and there is no place he would rather live than the mountain community of Estes Park. But after six years, Gabe is beginning to wonder if he’ll ever get a full-time position or find love. When Gabe sees Luis—and hears his gorgeous singing—he’s compelled to meet him.
Luis Martinez, the new owner of a hotel and steak ride business in Estes, left California and a career as a therapist for a fresh start in Colorado. But even the beauty of the mountains can’t help him forget the past or move forward. Unprepared for his strong attraction to Gabe, Luis is ready to run and hide from emotions he never thought he’d have again.
Suddenly the path ahead opens to a future that looks brighter for both of them, if they can find the courage to walk forward—together.
Mapping the Forest Links:
Brandon Witt’s outlook on life is greatly impacted by his first eighteen years of growing up gay in a small town in the Ozarks, as well as fifteen years as a counselor and special education teacher for students with severe emotional disabilities. Add to that his obsession with corgis and mermaids, then factor in an unhealthy love affair with cheeseburgers, and you realize that with all those issues, he’s got plenty to write about….

Oooh yay Alastair!!! Congrats on your debut. Love this post. Love dogs.
Congratulations on your new release. It sounds great.
Sounds like a very cool series!
Thanks for the post! I am glad you and Alastair found each other. I will never understand people who abandon pets instead of at least taking them to a shelter.
I can definitely relate to not beeing a people person. I love beeing alone 🙂
Thanks for the post
Isn’t Alastair most lovely? Such a sweetie. I tend to do the same, I rather spend my time talking to dogs and kids than socialising with the other “adults”… 😉
Congratulations on the release! I myself am a big dog person!
Congrats Brandon on the release. Love Luis & Gabe’s story. And Alastair is just to cute and cuddly! I knew we were soul sisters, I don’t people much, no that’s wrong, people are okay when I’m not around them. (LOL) If going to a social event I need at least a weeks warning for ‘pep-talks’ and to encourage myself to go. Then when I get there I immediately start planning my exit. I’d much rather be home.
congrats on your latest release 🙂
Can’t wait to meet Alistair!
I can relate to not wanting to be around people. And yay that Alastair is a rescue dog!
I am terrible at map reading.
Congratulations on your new release. This looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for the giveaway.
Oh, I cannot wait to read about Alastair!! I should set aside my time to read this. I’m not a dog person but I love reading dogs in my romance 🙂
Great post and thank you for sharing Alastair with us.
