Asher Ruggiero, a partner at Adrenaline Kick Adventures, is living a lie. As a control freak whose big Italian family thinks he’s straight, Asher likes his encounters concise, dirty, and discreet—until his company’s new rafting guide walks into work, dripping with brooding, intense sexuality. Sawyer Stevens is a mystery man with secrets and rough edges, and he makes Asher want to get to know him inside and out.
Ever since the tragic death of his parents, Sawyer has dedicated himself to the rush of adrenaline that comes from pleasure and pain. Moving from one guy to another, hiding when life gets too complicated—that’s all he can handle. So why does Asher make him long for something lasting and honest, when the gorgeous geek can’t even be true to himself? Sawyer wants to give Asher his heart, but he just doesn’t know how. After all, a life without integrity is a life without passion—and that’s the one thing Sawyer craves.
REVIEW:
Well HOT DAMN!!! You know I was going to give up on this series after I read book 1 and it wasn’t because I didn’t like book 1 because I did but it was pretty slow moving and didn’t blow me away. The Deeper He Hurts Book 2 of the Kick series was so friggin good and I’m so so so glad that I did not give up. This book drew me in from the very beginning and I could not put it down. Keep in mind this is not for the faint of heart. There is some hardcore sadistic/masochistic behaviors in this story. Cringe worth stuff but all the while it’s incredibly passionate, hot, and steamy with this underlining of care and emotion. It was heady, addictive stuff….
Asher, a closeted, sadist computer geek helps the guys keep Kick in the black with his incredible knowledge of business and numbers. Coming from a strict Catholic family he’s always felt like he would have to stay closeted to be accepted. He also knows that he would never be able to be truthful about his very peculiar kink.
Sawyer likes to hide his internal pain behind as much physical pain as possible. A die hard pain slut he’s always searching for a sadist who can settle his mind and ease his heart.
Asher and Sawyer are not looking for a relationship but the connection they feel is powerful and undeniable. They embark on a mutually fulfilling relationship where they both get their “kink” need met but are helpless to combat the growing need they have for each other.
On top of the physical this story is crazy emotional. Sawyer has some pretty hefty issues he’s dealing with and runs at the drop of a dime. Asher is also hiding and it’s amazing to experience these two characters overcome grief and be true to who they are and what they mean to each other.
This was such a great story. Well written and great pacing. Can’t wait for book 3…RECOMMEND!
