A business trip leads to a surprise encounter with an old flame in this sexy romance from the author of Just Business.
After Fazil Kurt breaks up with his girlfriend, a business trip to Seattle offers some much-needed time away. Sent by S.R. Anderson Consulting, Fazil is there to help audit Singularity Storage, a company they are trying to save. His first discovery is intriguing to say the least: One of Singularity’s engineers is Todd Douglas, Fazil’s first love.
He knows better than to get personally involved on a job like this. Back in high school, Todd broke Fazil’s heart more times than he could count, but both men have grown so much since then—and Fazil never could say no to Todd…
REVIEW:
I have really been enjoying this series, although this was my least favorite so far. The bonus was getting to see the guys from the first two books, and I highly recommend you read those stories. This one was good, but not nearly as enjoyable as the first two installments.
For starters, you have Fazil and Todd, who were friends and lovers in high school, but through a boatload of miscommunication and misconceptions, split up with Fazil cutting all contact. Then they meet up again in Seattle where Fazil is sent (with Eli) to help with the company where Todd works as an Engineer. It doesn’t take long for these two to get together to discuss their past and jump into another relationship together.
There is a lot going on with the company, compounded with the issues of homophobia, bigotry, and just overall unprofessional conduct that were a bit crazy. I so badly wanted Sam to drop the hammer and tell that company to take a hike, and while he did lay down the law at the end, it was a rough ride to get to that point.
Meanwhile, Fazil and Todd are hot and heavy, with some rough sex, lots of delicious dirty talk and smoking hot chemistry to boot. But, Fazil is only in Seattle for a short time, and while Todd has it all planned out for the them to be together, Fazil is unable to make it happen. I was so glad to see him stick to his guns!
I had a bit of trouble connecting with these guys. They never really felt like they were on the same page, unless you count the sex. I also never understood why it was never an option for Todd to make the move, or what the deal was with the horrible people at the company and why they were given the special treatment, etc. There was a lot of sex in a short amount of time, and I found myself losing interest to get to the parts where something actually moved forward with the other part of the story. Again, having the other guys involved really helped and seeing how wonderful things were in Pittsburgh keeps me longing for more. While I didn’t totally love this installment, I am definitely looking forward to the next one.
