BLURB:
Jake is bored of life in Greentree, a settlement of wizards who eschew technology and channel their magic through tattoos. Then a visitor arrives: Cory, a cyborg with coppery hair and metallic hands. Jake is fascinated by Cory’s metal parts, curious what it would feel like to touch them. But the others in Greentree aren’t so sure about a visitor they consider unnatural…
REVIEW:
Despite the magic all around and in it, Greentree can be rather normal most of the time. Normal for Greentree, anyways. Then, across the room of a pub, Jake spots something shiny and metallic… A cyborg. In the land of nature and earth magic, technology (more than a phone) is rare, and cyborgs are practically non-existent. Which is probably why Jake is so fascinated with him. Well, other than the large body, fully beard, and nice smile. But there is more hiding under that shiny exterior than even he thought possible.
I really wish this was longer. A lot of the character and world building in this felt too rushed to really appreciate a lot of it, but what was there was really nice. I loved the magic tattoos, and Cory’s metallic modifications were pretty damn awesome. Especially the ones below the belt.
If this was longer I could really see giving it a higher rating. With just the few scenes we were givin, I can say it was a pleasant read. And a cyborg trans character is always gonna be something I am interested in hearing more about.
