BLURB:
Massage therapist Joe Wells is in a little over his head with his first job at the posh Magic Touch Sports Spa. He’s also secretly falling for his friendly, sexy coworker, the top-notch masseur Andre Swift. All the clients clamor for Andre, and so far none have taken to Joe.
On the verge of being fired, Joe saves the life of a mysterious kitten belonging to a white witch, who grants him a wish: a magic touch that could save his job and maybe even win him Andre’s love and respect. As Joe’s stock at the spa rises to crazy and barely manageable levels of success, demand for Andre’s services drops off. Will Joe lose Andre to an out-of-control spell? Or worse—Andre’s love might prove to be only a result of the magic, just like Joe’s sudden talent.
REVIEW:
I almost didn’t take this one because of the mention of white magic. I don’t typically do books with magic but this one called to me. I am pleased that I took the chance.
Joe Wells is fresh out of massage therapy school and has landed a job in a posh spa. The only problem he has is that, even though he has the skill set, he lacks the experience and confidence of an established massage therapist. After a rather horrible rich client calls him out in front of his boss and the whole spa he is now fearful for his job. Andre Swift, a fellow massage therapist, agrees to take Joe under his tutelage and show him the ropes. Andre realizes that Joe severely lacks confidence in himself. And after an embarrassing moment with Andre, Joe runs off quickly. On his way home he hears a distressing sound and winds up helping a trapped kitten who injures him in the process. The owner, who is getting out of white magic that night, offers him one wish for his help. “Make Someone Happy” is the story of how Joe deals with the aftermath of his one wish.
I am not one to believe in magic. Just not my thing. But poor Joe needed a bit of a nudge for his self-confidence. Sometimes that’s all it takes to get someone on track and moving forward. Whether magic is real or just the nudge you need, confidence in your abilities is usually the answer. Andre saw that in Joe too. Massage therapy is a very physical job and can be rewarding and stressful at times. My massage therapist is golden to me and my lengthy recovery. Miracles can and do happen when they can get your muscles to finally work again. I am a bit skeptical that it can happen in one session however. Especially after two years of assumed paralysis.
This was a cute, quick read that leaves you smiling. It is not filled with long, steamy sex scenes but with sweet moments of new love. The end was a bit too quick and I would have loved to have seen where this was going from here but still a fun read.
