BLURB:
Jon’s future in New York seems bright. He’s on the corporate fast track as an executive problem solver, but somehow he can’t help feeling hollow. Yearning for a life spent outdoors makes no sense if he wants to flourish in this city, nor does losing his cool with clients when they make bad decisions. Only leaving the East Coast behind for three months can save his business reputation.
His exile in Seattle has unexpected upsides. Jon’s rented home has a garden where his true passions blossom. It’s overgrown yet idyllic—perfect if he didn’t have to share it with another tenant. Tyler might be as cute as hell, and their landlady adores him, but Jon can’t let himself fall for someone who seems lazy.
Three months could be enough time to see Tyler clearly, but choosing which to nurture long-term—love or a business career—might take Jon longer than one summer.
REVIEW:
This was a very, very sweet read. This is very little angst, very little character/relationship drama/miscommunication. This is essentially two people who have a pretty rocky start that grows into a very sweet attraction then something more. Now I’ve never been shy in my love for angst. I friggin love it and most of the time need it in my stories. This one however really worked for me. I really liked the characters, essentially all the characters were really well developed and thought out. The plot and story line was a little slow moving at times but it never had me not wanting to read or finish the story. I was all in basically from the beginning.
No matter how much Jon wants to believe himself an emotionless, heavy hitting business man he finds himself in situations that prove otherwise. Finding himself in Seattle after a disastrous meeting in New York with a client, Jon was given a reprieve to reevaluate some things while taking on a new client. Jon picks a rental property with an amazing garden and finds himself remembering things from his childhood that he used to love before the corporate world took over.
Tyler is not afraid of hard work. He has done any and everything under the sun to make ends meet and he’s not afraid of getting his hands dirty. The new tenant is an unexpected but pleasant surprise until he meets Jon and Jon’s disdain is clearly visible.
Jon immerses himself in his new clients business and tries to forget his unwanted attraction to Tyler. Living in the same place has these two bumping into each other all the time and what starts as unfriendly slowly builds to a lot more.
Like I mentioned you do have to work for the relationship between these two but it is worth it. As a reader you will get invested, fully into these characters because they are all written so well.
Definitely recommend.
