A warm welcome to our final author in the GRL 2016 Featured author blog tour: Miss Lane Hayes
Lane talks to us about GRL coming close, anwers Pat’s question and she brought with her a fabulous giveaway!
Welcome Lane 🙂
It’s hard to believe GRL 2016 is less than one week away. Where does the time go? I feel like I was just loading up my rental car (my car was in the shop…again) in preparation for a relatively short hour and a half drive from my home in Southern California to San Diego. This year, I’ll be flying. Logistics will be different but the excitement is there in spades! The books, readings, the panels and Q&As…but most of all, the people!
This will be my third GRL and my second as a Featured Author. I have to admit, I’m not a convention type of gal. I’m very personable, but extended periods in large crowds wear me out. I need my down time. But GRL is unique. Almost all four hundred people in attendance feels the same way I do. We are first and foremost book lovers! We love the MM genre and are beyond excited to talk to our FB and Twitter friends and our fellow authors and readers. We’re traveling from all over the U.S….scratch that, the world, because this opportunity is too damn exciting to pass up.
Packing will be a challenge this year. What are the chances of fitting swag, books, a poster (not as ginormous as last year’s, I promise) and clothing in a giant suitcase and not forgetting something? I’m not sure. I’ll do my best to have a little something from each book, particularly the ones I’ve released since last October. That includes the first three books in my A Kind of Stories series. The newest one, A Kind of Honesty, was released just one week ago. This one goes back to the rock and roll storyline of the first book, A Kind of Truth…only this time, it’s about the drummer. J
Which leads me to the perfect segue… Pat Henshaw’s question to Lane Hayes: If you could learn to play any instrument in the world instantly, what instrument would you like to learn?
The guitar. I wished I’d learned to play when I was younger. When I was a kid, I asked for one for Christmas. My second grade teacher was a pretty young woman with long blond hair who used to sing Kumbaya as she accompanied us on her six-string. It was 1976 and I was truly impressed. I wanted to be her! However, Santa probably thought I was doing just fine plucking along on a badminton racket. That dream died and was soon replaced by the desire to become a singer/songwriter. And eventually…an author. My husband and one of our sons play. There is always live music in my house and that makes me perfectly happy.
See you in Kansas City!
Lane Hayes xo
Lane Hayes is grateful to finally be doing what she loves best. Writing full-time! It’s no secret Lane loves a good romance novel. An avid reader from an early age, she has always been drawn to well-told love story with beautifully written characters. These days she prefers the leading roles to both be men. Lane discovered the M/M genre a few years ago and was instantly hooked. Her debut novel was a 2013 Rainbow Award finalist and subsequent books have received Honorable Mentions in the 2014 and 2015 Rainbow Awards. She loves red wine, chocolate and travel (in no particular order). Lane lives in Southern California with her amazing husband in an almost empty nest.

A Kind of Story
Music is drummer Tim Chalmers’s great escape and the one thing that’s never let him down. But his band Spiral’s meteoric rise to fame has made it difficult for him to maintain a low profile. Unwanted press pesters him after a public breakup with a volatile ex-girlfriend who loves the limelight as much as he loathes it. Tim’s main goal is to avoid confrontation. However, when a handsome stranger in a dive bar turns out to be someone he might know, everything changes.
Carter Hamilton-Temple might be a successful financial consultant with more brains, sophistication, and charm than most, but he always falls for the wrong guys: closet cases or men with issues. He can’t fight his attraction to tattooed rock star Tim, but can he trust his own judgment? When the thrill of danger combined with a fierce physical connection proves too strong for either man to resist, a quiet liaison away from the public eye and curious friends seems like a safe bet. But some secrets are hard to keep. When rumors threaten to rock his world, Tim realizes it’s time to confront his fear with his own kind of honesty

Thank you Lisa!
I’ve always wanted to play the guitar as well. My son plays and will learn songs that I like to play for me. I’ve really enjoyed your Kind Of series and have A Kind Of Honesty downloaded on my Kindle, ready to read. Thanks for the giveaway.
My boys play for me too. I love it! And thank you! So glad you’re enjoying the series! xoxo
Love this series!
Thank you!
Can’t go wrong with giving the drummer some!
I know! The poor drummers never get any love!
Need to finish the previous series so I can move on to this one! And I love convention stories – my goal is that as soon as my kids are both off to college, I’m going to try to get to 2-3 conventions a year. Not sure what I’ll tell my husband…
I ran into that with my husband too.LOL. I’d wanted to go since the first one in New Orleans. He was great with it. It’s a blast! Hope to see you at the next one. Happy Reading!
Enjoy GRL, thanks for this post
Thank you! xo
This book looks great.
Thanks Kelly!
I love all of your books but A Kind of Honesty was special to me. There can be no kind of relationship without the importance of honesty. Thanks for writing this one…it was wonderful!
Thank you Marilyn. I truly appreciate it and I agree wholeheartedly. Honesty is so important in any relationship. xo
Loved all the Lane Hayes books I’ve read and I’m sure this one will be no different. Really hope to get to GRL one day but its quite a long way from little ole Blighty! Its on my bucket list so one day…
Thank you Jess! I hope you do make it one day! I’d love to meet you! xo
Good luck with the packing (I use a checklist) and have a great time at GRL. And, I agree it would be cool to play the guitar.
Thank you Jen. I need to write my checklist pronto!
Enjoy San Diego!
Your series (with all the great guys) is fantastic so go and reap the rewards.
May you get lots of compliments while you’re there.
You’ve earned them.

Thank you Susana
I wish I am good at guitar as well. When I was younger, I was thinking of learning how to play it. But I’m always good at thinking rather than doing *LOL*. Good luck with the packing and have fun at GRL
I think I was guilty of that as well…thinking not doing. Thank you!
haven’t read this series…it sounds great!
Thank you!
Knowing how to play guitar instanting would be awesome! Enjoy your time at GRL! Wish I could go.
Thank you!
I haven’t read this series yet but enjoy your other books. Have fun at GRL =)
Thank you H.B.!
Congrats on your latest release, i love your books and look forward to read this one. I hope you have fun at GRL
Thank you Angela! I appreciate it! xo
Can’t wait to see you and I really loved the first two books. Have the third and hope to get to it soon! GRL is the best. I’ve been to every one – but I feel you needing the downtime. I have to disappear for a while myself 😀
Have fun at GRL. I would choose the piano, which like the guitar you can play without needing others. I played the trombone, but that’s not as entertaining at parties 🙂
I hope one day that you master the guitar. Thanks for the giveaway. I hope that I win. Bernie W BWallace1980(at)hotmail(d0t)com
I had a guitar – which I never master – since teens. I guess I’m more an enjoyer rather than (music intrument) player. LOL.
Have fab time at GRL, Lane. And good luck with the packing.
I love the cover and think this sounds like a very good book.
