Things are going well for androgynous model Ollie Petroskovic, ex-Marine Kade Alme, and their business, Haven Investigations, until rock star Jacob Elias shows up in need of their services… and trouble follows.
Jacob is a playboy with a serious penchant for kink, slaves, and sex toys. He’s also Ollie’s ex—and all that implies. With the media exploiting his personal life, a stalker sending blood-soaked “gifts,” a bumbling security team, and a family he can’t trust as far as he could throw them, Jacob is in desperate need of a bodyguard for his latest tour, and Kade can’t refuse.
While Kade deals with new doubts about his partnership with Ollie and struggles with reminders of his war injuries, Jacob’s stalker escalates from blackmail and threats to murder. As Kade and Ollie work to keep Jacob safe and find the culprit behind the attack, a web of family secrets, lies, and abuse slowly emerges, leading up to a final confrontation that they might not walk away from—and that will have lasting repercussions for Kade and his relationship with Ollie.
REVIEW:
I love a good mystery and this book fit the bill to a T. Model Bodyguard really had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the bad guy was and I’ll be honest in saying that I had some prime suspects from early on but I still wasn’t completely convinced.
In book 2 of the Haven Investigation series, Ollie and Kade are settling into life together as a couple. They are still renovating their house while running their private investigation business Haven Investigations. Ollie and Kade appear stronger than ever within themselves and each other.
Unfortunately there is still the mystery of Ollie’s brothers death and a new case involving Ollie’s rock star ex-boyfriend Jacob that is throwing a wrench into their happily ever after.
After taking on Jacob as a new client Kade unfortunately has to be in his presence more than he’d like. Ollie is assigned with trying to figure out where the death threats are coming from and why.
Through the course of the investigation there are dangers lurking around every corner. Kade and Ollie, again find themselves in harm’s way while trying to figure out the mystery surrounding their new clients. As I mentioned earlier this one wasn’t so cut and dry on the “whodunit” like book 1 was so I don’t want to mention too much and spoil it for readers. Just know it’s really good and a page turner.
Ollie and Kade are still as passionate and caring as ever in this installment. You can really feel their bond and connection to each other it’s very sweet during the story so when a curveball is thrown in the story, it’s actually quite surprising.
Overall, a great addition to the series and like the author mentions at the beginning this is a cliffhanger so you’ve been warned.
No matter what though it is a great book but a very talented author. Recommend.
