A warm welcome to author L.A Witt, joining us today to talk about her newest Riptide Publishing release “Kinky Sprinkles”.
Welcome Lori 🙂
Where in the world did seven years go?
About two weeks ago was an anniversary that slipped by me until today because I guess Facebook dropped the Memory thing or whatever. Huff.
Anyway, September 9th marked seven years since my first book was released. November 30th will be seven since my first L.A. Witt book came out, but this month’s milestone was when I finally got to say “I’m a published author.”
Writing books was what I’d always wanted to do. From the time I was old enough to realize people wrote books, I wanted to do it. My parents and teachers encouraged me, though a lot of teachers made sure to remind me I’d never make a living at it (ha!), and I was hell bent on doing this. When my various day jobs were sucking the life out of me and I was spending every single commute wondering if I’d still be doing this in twenty years, my mind circled back to the same thing—I want to write, damn it.
In 2008, the opportunity came to take a stab at full-time writing. Seven years, several publishers, a few million words, and a hundred books later… here we are.
To say becoming an author changed my life would be a tremendous understatement. It was what I’d always wanted, but so much more than I’d expected. Today, I browsed through my list of Facebook friends, not to mention the list of people I chat with on a regular basis, and it’s staggering to realize how many of those people I wouldn’t know if things had happened differently.
For all the writers out there who wonder if the hard parts get easier… sort of. Rejection still stings, but it gets better. Reviews can still leave bruises, but your skin gets thicker with time. Editing is still tedious. It gets easier in the same way running gets easier—it’s still work, and it’s still taxing, but you can do it more efficiently and effectively than when you first started. Release day jitters and anxiety get better, but they never go away (at least, they haven’t for me).
Meeting fans never gets old. Getting fangirled/fanboyed at a signing or a convention never gets old. Fan mail never gets old. Getting shiny new cover art never gets old.
For me, the whole thing—writing and publishing—never gets old, even when it has its ups and downs. Every time I’m frustrated or tired, I ask myself “Do I still want to do this?” And the answer is always, without hesitation, “Absolutely.” Seven years later (technically eight, since I was writing full-time for about a year before I was published), I still love my job. Will I still be doing this in twenty years? I sure hope so.
So, as I sit back today and wonder where in the world seven years went, know that I am incredibly grateful to everyone I’ve met along the way – especially my readers. Thank you.
Kinky Sprinkles Blurb:
Joel has finally walked away from his abusive ex and is ready to meet new people. But that isn’t easy for a guy who’s shy, self-conscious, and struggling with his body image.
Andre has wanted Joel since the first time he laid eyes on him, and finally Joel is single. But Andre is a Dom and a sadist, and Joel is unapologetically vanilla. There’s no happy medium—either Andre reins in the kinky side that took him years to accept, or Joel grits his teeth and subjects himself to kinks that aren’t his thing. No matter who bends, someone’s going to be unhappy.
They agree to walk away, but they keep circling back to each other. Though their kinks might not line up, the chemistry between them sizzles and the emotional connection keeps getting deeper. But none of that will get them anywhere if they can’t find some kind of middle ground in the bedroom.
Kinky Sprinkles is available September 26th from Riptide Publishing, Amazon
About L.A. Witt
L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer who has finally been released from the purgatorial corn maze of Omaha, Nebraska, and now spends her time on the southwestern coast of Spain. In between wondering how she didn’t lose her mind in Omaha, she explores the country with her husband, several clairvoyant hamsters, and an ever-growing herd of rabid plot bunnies. She also has substantially more time on her hands these days, as she has recruited a small army of mercenaries to search South America for her nemesis, romance author Lauren Gallagher, but don’t tell Lauren. And definitely don’t tell Lori A. Witt or Ann Gallagher. Neither of those twits can keep their mouths shut…
LA.’s backlist is available on her website, and updates (as well as random thoughts and the odd snarky comment) can be found on her blog or on Twitter (@GallagherWitt).

The first book of yours that I read was Conduct Unbecoming, and I fell in love! You’re my most read MM author, at 43 books. Keep doing how you do!
It has been wonderful seven years, and here’s to another seven years ahead! Oh, I have this book now since I am curious with the blurb. Hope to read it soon.

I’m looking forward to reading this one because I consider myself to be unapologetically vanilla, yet I’m fascinated by the D/s relationship. I’m also rather cynical, stubborn, and set in my ways, so seeing how the characters reach a happy medium is intriguing to me. Can’t wait to learn a thing or two!
PS
Congratulations on a successful 7/8 years of writing full time, and escaping Omaha, lol.
