BLURB:
Bear shifter Seamus has a thing for his boss at the Blue Moon bar. Hugh doesn’t seem to notice him except to chew his ass about his bar tending skills. Hugh is a wolf shifter who thinks Seamus is the hottest thing he’s ever seen, but running the bar leaves him little time for a personal life. When danger threatens the Blue Moon bar, though, Seamus and Hugh band together, and finally get what they both want. Can it last or will outside forces tear them apart.
REVIEW:
Its always more of a challenge to review a short story than a longer one because it can be all too easy to give too much away. Its no secret by now that I love shifter stories and I’ve enjoyed this author’s works in the past so it was pretty much a guarantee that I’d like this story, and I did. I liked the characters, especially Seamus, and was given just enough information on them to get a good picture of who they were without being overloaded on unnecessary information. Hugh was interesting, as well; you could see the struggle between what he wanted and what his head (and everyone else) said was right. I’ll be surprised if that entire situation/choice doesn’t come up or cause problems later in the series.
The story itself did move fairly quickly with some well placed time jumps but that was completely expected due to the size of the story in question. I enjoyed the setting quite a bit and did like the overall story. I did feel as though the plot dealing with the missing cub could’ve been better with a bit of fleshing out as it came off as a little lackluster in the ‘drama’ portion of the book but, again, short story here. All in all this was a nice, quick read that works well as the introduction to a new series and with the various shifters introduced and the bar setting the author could take the characters in any number of directions. I’m looking forward to seeing the next book come out but will most likely read this one again in the meantime. If you like shifter stories or just have a soft spot for bears of either variety, you might want to give this one a look.
