And will Trey be able to cope with yet another devastating loss, one he well could have prevented?
REVIEW:
In this instalment, Jeremy has had a visit from one of his pen pals Sam. Sam and Jeremy starting writing to each other when Jeremy first arrived in prison and Sam was still at college. Sam is now a lawyer working for the innocence project, when he presented Jeremy’s case and was told to start working on Jeremy’s appeal. The only problem being Jeremy is trying very hard not to get his hopes up. Over the last several months Jeremy has gotten very close to Wes, he even loves Wes but he’s not in love with Wes, which Wes is not happy about! Because of Wes’s narcissism he must have all of Jeremy’s attention and affection.
Because of Jeremy’s life sentence he told Trey that they’re over as he’s met and fallen in love with someone else. Trey’s devastated but after thinking about it he comes to the conclusion that the only reason Jeremy would say something like that is because they will never be able to contact each other due to the fact that ex-prisoners are not allowed to have any contact with other prisoners. After Trey is released from the mental health facility he eventually finds a job with a company started to give ex-cons a chance to gain employment skills. Trey ends up in Jeremy’s home town and decides to do a little digging. It doesn’t take long for Trey to find more than he ever thought possible about Jeremy’s ex-boyfriend and the death of his father that Jeremy sis currently serving life without parole for!
We also learn about CO Rick Slater, you might remember that Rick was the bus driver who took Jeremy to prison and then raped him within hours of getting there. Rick has made a young man who works in the store in gets his coffee from think he’s in love with him so he’ll give Rick his pain medication to sell in the prison, now unbeknownst to him, he is under investigation because he is up to his neck in almost every illegal drug scheme going on within the prison.
We also learn that CO Corey Levins has given in to his attraction to Bobby Howard and although he thinks they’re being incredibly quiet and secretive about their liaisons a lot of people know what’s going on between them!
I can’t wait for the next instalment so all the loose ends are tied up!! If you haven’t read the Life Without Parole series yet, why not? You really should, the emotions that surround everyone within the prison walls be they prisoners, CO’s or the warden they’re very intense sometimes very dark but always very realistic and believable.
