Ford Nixel has two law offices, two fancy condominiums, and all the right connections. In short, he has everything he wants.
The last thing he needs is his Uncle Ty’s stake in the Leaning N, a ranch that’s been in the family for generations. Ford hasn’t even been to the ranch in over a decade, not since he left his boyfriend Stoney behind and headed back to college alone.
Ford arrives at the Leaning N to find Stoney, now a single father, right where he left him. A fist fight, a snowstorm, and a stolen kiss in the barn later—Ford knows none of the heat between them has dissipated.
REVIEW:
Having just recently discovered B. A. Tortuga, she has rapidly risen to be one of my favorite gay cowboy authors. I just know that I am in for a treat with her sexy men.
Ford Nixel is a very successful attorney fighting for the land and water rights of Native American tribes in the Southwest. He hasn’t been home since his boyfriend cheated on him with his cousin, getting her pregnant, over ten years ago. Since then he has avoided all things home and family back up in Colorado. Suddenly he is jerked back into the fold when his uncle becomes gravely ill.
Stoney River is a simple cowboy and single dad to his son Quartz. When Quartz’s momma suddenly died he stepped up to the plate for the little boy just like he always does with everything in his life. Home and family is everything to him, even if it isn’t his biological family.
Ford and Stoney are now forced to not only see each other, but to learn to get along and work together for the sake of the ranch. “Commitment Ranch” is the story of how these two men uncover secrets that they never knew about, learn to work through their differences for the sake of family and friends, and learn to lean on and trust each other again.
Ford is a very successful lawyer but he has always carried the scars from his college boyfriend’s betrayal. Run when you get scared or it’s too tough. Try and protect yourself against more pain and anguish. He was living a shell of a life. Stoney is the epitome of the selfless cowboy. He would literally give you the shirt off his back to help a person out, at the risk of hurting himself to make someone else happy and healthy. I admired these two men. They didn’t just jump into each other’s arms after all these years. They may not have gone about it the easiest way but they finally broke down the communication walls and got to the heart of all their woes and misunderstandings.
The character who touched me the most was the vegan cook, Geoff. He was Quartz’s dead momma’s best friend’s little brother. Stoney had gathered him in, like one of his strays, and Leaning N Ranch became his safe haven and home. His is the story I can’t wait to read in this series. He so needs and deserves his own HEA.
Great start to a very promising series. I can’t wait for more!
