— The ugliest truths blossom into the prettiest lies. —
A year into the relationship with Domenico, Seth still wants him as desperately as ever. Nothing is better than being intoxicated with lust for his deadly man and feeling his steady hands all over.
No matter the misunderstandings, the fights… The crash. The burn.
Crossing the Mexican border has been a goal for Seth and Domenico for a few months, but the trip couldn’t have ended in more of a disaster. While Domenico is stuck at home, for Seth each passing day becomes more difficult. Desperate to keep his family afloat, he accepts a job offer from Los Sepultureros. The Gravediggers.
When Domenico’s need for control starts eroding their trust, Seth is sure their love can conquer all. But when Domenico rips open the wound left after the violence at the beginning of their relationship, it gushes blood all over their cozy lies and this time, there may be no way to seal it.
REVIEW:
This is classic K.A. Merikan. I loved the continuing story of Seth and Domenico, and their newly adopted son Mark. I liked it so much in fact, that I think it just might be my favorite of the series so far. It’s a little dark, as you would expect in this mafia related story.
In this installment the guys are still on the run. It has only been a year since they began their relationship. I know…right? It seems like ten years because so much has happened to these guys in that time. Now they are off to Mexico, but they don’t want to go through legal avenues because they don’t want anyone to track them. They have a new last name, the same for all three of them, and Domenico is still pushing Seth to marry him.
When a shady guy steers them to an underground tunnel into Mexico, it seems like the perfect solution. But even the best of plans…
Arriving in Mexico with Domenico severely injured, having lost all their cash and most of their clothes, they struggle to survive. Finally Seth goes looking for a job in the small Mexican town where they’ve landed. Not an easy task when you speak Italian and English, and no one in town speaks either.
Landing a job for the local gang, Seth doesn’t realize how far over his head he is. When someone from Domenico and Seth’s past shows up, things get complicated! Will the guys make it out of this one alive? I’m not telling. Read it yourself!
There was only one thing that I didn’t like in this book, but I’m not going to penalize the entire book for it. The “Role Play” stuff at the end of the book totally threw me out of the story and honestly, I skimmed it. I didn’t like that it was the end of the story for this installment.
Role play grumbles aside…I highly recommend this book, and the entire series. The books should be read in order, as the blurb says, so that you understand the background. I’ve loved them all, so trust me, it won’t be a hard task. I’ll be sitting here patiently…ok, not so patiently waiting for another installment. I just saw on Goodreads that they plan between 10 and 15 books in this story, so it looks like I’m in for the long haul!
