Malcolm Tate hung up his flogger when his submissive sought out another Dom and landed in the hands of a serial killer. Convinced his lack of dominance sent his sub away, Mal has spent two years blaming himself for what happened. But when his best friend finally convinces him to go back to the local dungeon, Mal’s grateful. Especially when he wins beautiful, submissive, firmly closeted Kyle Bingham in a charity slave auction.
College grad Kyle hasn’t earned enough to move out of the loft his conservative, homophobic parents bought, much less to buy any of the other things still in their name. When he’s won at auction by the hot, amazing Mal, he’s shocked that anyone would want him. No one else seemed to—not his parents, his former Doms, or any of his disastrous dates.
But Mal does want him and Kyle lets his guard down, only to be outed to his parents. With his world crashing down, he must find a way to trust Mal—and their developing relationship—or risk losing everything.
REVIEW:
Okay, I have a confession to make: I am absolutely not a fan of BDSM. It freaks me out and I simply do not understand the appeal. But, that is just me. With that being said, you’d probably be quite surprised to find that I liked this book. After getting past the BDSM, I found it had a beautiful story that dealt with many issues each of us has experienced at least once in our lives.
Mal’s sub told him that he was not adventurous enough in the bedroom, and went out to seek pleasure elsewhere. Unfortunately, that landed him in the hands of a serial killer and subsequently dead. So, not only is Mal mourning the loss of a lover, he feels completely inadequate and lacking as a Dom. He’s lost his mojo and his friends are worried for him. When his best friend finally talks Mal into going back to the local Dungeon that he and his friends belong to, Mal is nervous but willing to give it a go.
When Mal runs across the slave auction and looks at who is up for bid, he runs across Kyle, a recent college grad, who stirs a powerful surge of desire that cannot be denied. So, of course, Mal decides he needs to win Kyle in the auction and get to know the sexy young sub better. Even better, Mal ends up winning Kyle and they end up getting acquainted in the most intimate of ways.
For Mal and Kyle, their attraction is instant, but the faith and trust is not. Their chemistry is off the charts, but Kyle is very closeted and Mal is still suffering insecurities from his last relationship. Beautiful Boy is about how Mal and Kyle came to grow and not only understand each other, but themselves as well. It is also about passion and learning to let go. The bond these two men form is beautiful and powerful. They do truly complete each other.
Beautiful Boy is a wonderfully written book, and Joel Leslie does a nice job narrating. I’m glad I took a chance on listening to this book. If you are into BDSM, I highly recommend you check out Beautiful Boy by Grace R. Duncan.
