A warm welcome to our next featured author on our 2016 GRL Blog Tour: Catherine Lievens. Catherine talkes to us about going to a con and going to her first GRL and she also brought along a giveaway to our readers!
Welcome Catherine 🙂
GRL won’t be my first con since I’ve gone both to the UK Meet and to the Euro Pride Con, but it will be my first time in the States. I’ve never been on a plane for so long, and I’ve never been so far away from home, so it’s a bit scary, but I’m very excited, both about the con and the trip itself. Oh, and about the fact that I’ll be able to watch a hockey game without having to wake up at two in the morning, but that’s another story.
The UK Meet and Euro Pride Con are much smaller than GRL, and I’ll be rubbing elbows with some huge names in the genre. There will also be so much more people attending, but then that’s the point, right? I’ll be doing a Q&A panel, and I’m already nervous no one will show up, because let’s admit it, I’m a fairly new author.
GRL isn’t only about selling books, though, and I have to admit I can’t wait to meet some of my readers. I’ve talked to a lot of them on Facebook, but actually meeting them will be great, and I’m glad I’ll be able to put a face with their names. I’m also glad I’ll get to meet some of my own favorite authors. I’ll probably fangirl so loud you’ll be able to hear me from the other side of the hotel.
My question from Ally Blue is: what song do you feel best captures the spirit of either your current work in progress or your most recent release (your choice!), and why?
I wish I had a serious looking answer to this question, but the truth is that the song that captures the spirit of one of my WIPs is Part of Your World. Yes, the song from The Little Mermaid movie. One of my WIPs, Home is Where You Are, is the story of a merman who wants to see more of the world above the ocean. He gets what he wants, but unfortunately, it isn’t as nice as he dreamed it would be.
My question for Eden Winters is: Is there a food item that appears often in your books?
I have a new novel out on August 12 with Dreamspinner Press. I’m excited and nervous about this, because it doesn’t have shifters, unlike the books I usually write. I hope readers will enjoy it anyway, as much as I enjoyed writing it. You can pre-order it on the major retailer websites.
Blurb
Leslie Reilly is a police officer in the small town of Santa Anna Springs. He has a job he loves, a supportive family, and good friends, but he’s lonely. He hasn’t had much luck with romance. And he’s not the only one.
Since the death of his wife, Gavin Donovan has been alone—raising his young son Ben and trying to protect Ben from his homophobic grandfather, whose attempts to get custody of the boy are growing more and more desperate.
When Leslie and Gavin meet, they know making a life together might not be easy, but they’re willing to do whatever it takes to be a family.
Catherine Lievens has always loved books. She’s not sure how she managed to marry a man who doesn’t read, but she deals with it and buys enough books for both of them. Just ask him—he frequently wonders if the books on her shelves mate with each other to produce new ones. She never told him it’s only her buying more books.
After brushing up her English to graduate in English language and translation, she decided to put it to good use and write the characters she always dreamt of and never found in the books she read. She likes writing about creatures people say don’t exist, like shifters and harpies, because her life’s too boring to write about what she knows, and she always wanted to be a cat anyway.
Catherine lives in Italy with her son, three cats, and her husband, who doesn’t like cats. It’s not Catherine’s fault strays seem to love her. She’s the one author who hates coffee and lives on energy drinks instead, and she wishes she could have more time to read, so sometimes she skips housework to do just that. Books can make everything better, including dirty floors.
