Darren

I got home from the salon, and opened the door to my house. It still seemed odd coming home and not having Michael there. Don’t get me wrong, we parted on very good terms. We both knew it wasn’t meant for the long term, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a little bit of sadness involved.

About four months after we broke up, Michael met Roger at a convention, and the two of them hit it off. I don’t think I’d ever seen my friend happier. But with his departure came an empty home, and my desire for a change of my own. And I knew exactly where I wanted to start. I slipped my wallet from my pocket and opened it. The card had tattered edges and seemed a bit faded, but it still called to me. Okay, I admit, I might be glamorizing it a little bit, but watching the two of them together, the love they shared between them and with their friends, stirred something in me. A desire that I’d known I had, but had never been sure how to explore.
