Surveillance, seduction, and extra-dirty politics.
Christian Chatsworth-Brandeis has a problem. A huge one. The US senator he works for has run away with his latest mistress on the eve of a make-or-break fund-raising event, and it’s up to him to cover his boss’s irresponsible tracks.
Stone Jackson, the senator’s new bodyguard, looks enough like the senator that, with some extensive grooming, he might pass for Senator Lacey. Christian and Stone hatch a plan to fool everyone by substituting Stone for the senator, but Miami madness and the incendiary heat between them are throwing obstacles in their way. It’s a race to find the senator and pull off the con of the century before the attraction between them spins completely out of control.
REVIEW:
I really enjoyed reading this novella. The men were hot, the storyline was good, the dialogue, editing, etc…were very good; the story was well executed. I really like the book. The MCs on the other hand…Stone and Christian, not so much. Both MCs were obnoxious, with only one being a little less obnoxious than the other. Even one of the guy’s name was obnoxious: Stone.
Anywho, the story features two tropes that I like as well: the rough around the edges man’s man and the refined, cultured, sophisticated and wealthy man being put together. The author added a little spice to Christian, though. He’s cultured, rich, sophisticated but he’s a lot tougher than he appeared and he’s someone that can handle Stone and keep him in line.
Stone needed a man like Chris and didn’t even realize it. Stone was all about the one night stand, move on afterward, no strings attached type of guy but of course, Chris changed that for him.
This novella was quite interesting and the best of the Dreamspun desires series that I’ve read so far. It will definitely keep you entertained and engaged.
