This is a Series Review of I Dare You (Books One & Two)
AUTHOR: Jennifer Labelle
PUBLISHER: Evernight Publishing
SERIES REVIEW:
This series didn’t really fit the guidelines of our Love Bytes blog. Although the stories had a little same sex activity, it was more token, whereas the majority of the books were heterosexually oriented. I’ve reviewed the two books I received for review below, but will not be continuing with the third book in the series.
TITLE: Heidi LENGTH: 58 pages
RELEASE DATE: April 26, 2016
BLURB:
A blonde, a brunette, and a redhead walk into a bar…
After an embarrassing encounter with her roommate Nathan, Heidi Taylor is in major need of a drink and a place to hide. She calls in her two closest friends, Zoey and Meagan to help rescue her. After they meet at a bar and the liquid courage sets in, she comes up with an unusual plan in the form of a dare for each one of them.
Heidi fell in love with a man who’s off limits and she’s afraid to tell him how she really feels—until a bet is made and her friends challenge her to make a move. But Nathan De Costa makes it easy on her when he suggests she needs a little spice in her love life, and designates himself as her something spicy.
REVIEW:
I will admit that I originally said I would love to do this trilogy because I love ménage. It is one of my favorite genres. However, I was expecting this to be more gay based. I love m/m/f. Bi-guys and a gal has a certain zing factor to it. This fell short, in that it was predominately m/f with a little m/m and some m/f/m.
Heidi Taylor has had a rough time. She secretly pines away for her man-whore of a roommate and best-friend, Nathan De Costa. After a rather embarrassing incident of her playing peeping tom on her roommate, who is bi-sexual, and a one-night stand, she meets up with her two best girlfriends, one whom is his cousin. After a bit of drinking they dare each other into various sexual dares. This first novella is Heidi’s dare to go after her roommate once and for all.
Heidi is a likeable, attractive young woman and Nathan is a gorgeous Latin man-whore. But their whole problem would be easily solved if they had ever really talked to each other. They have lived together for several years and have been best friends. Have they never, ever got a bit tipsy and really shared their deepest thoughts? And their sexy Greek neighbor Rafe. All of a sudden they are both attracted to him and the men are both jealous of each other over Heidi???
There were quite a few sex scenes but the m/f theme seemed to dominate over the couple m/m scenes and the one ménage scene. Just not my usual kind of ménage book.

TITLE: Zoey
LENGTH: 59 pages
RELEASE DATE: May 17, 2016
BLURB:
Zoey Appleby is bored of her vanilla sex life, or lack thereof lately. So, when her friends dare her to have a threesome she’s all for it, in theory anyway. It isn’t until she’s introduced to Heidi and Nathan’s boyfriend, Rafe, that the opportunity comes knocking.
Rafe Zakas is hoping Zoey will consider being their fourth. He needs something more from his two lovers and Zoey is just what he thinks he needs to help him settle down. There is a void she seems to fill within him, and it’s up to Zoey to decide if she’s okay with their new found love and unconventional lifestyle, or will she stick to the life she’s used to?
REVIEW:
This is the second in the “I Dare You” series and I will admit I liked this one a bit more than the last. This one seemed to fit Love Byte’s Same Sex reviews a bit better in the beginning but then it became focused on a m/f relationship with a tie to being part of the foursome. It had m/m and f/f, and m/f/f/m but ultimately these stories are about couples and their desire for more.
It is Zoey’s book, who is one of the three girl friend’s in these dares. But it truly is Rafe’s, Heidi and Nathan’s permanent third in their relationship, also. He finally admits that he wants what Heidi and Nathan have, a spicy partner that wants to participate in their kinky lifestyle but has that deeper connection to complete him and not make him feel in his own head like a “third wheel”. Leave it to the ever planning Heidi to jump right in on this too! Zoey gets invited out to drinks with her friend Heidi and her two men, Nathan and Rafe. It jumps pretty quickly to the suggestion that Heidi had put in the two guys heads about a foursome some day, although I don’t think she had Zoey in mind when she offered the thought originally.
If you are into erotica with a lot of m/f with some same sex these might work for you. They did have a couple scenes that were same sex but for the most part, as I stated before, these books are basically the women and their desire for the men they want. Just not necessarily my type of ménage books. Too much m/f for me.
