Leader Murders: Case Three
Bert Cooper’s life used to be great, until his sister turned out to be a traitor. Now Bert feels the whole pack looks on him with doubt and suspicion. To prove his loyalty, he volunteers to be the first ambassador at Fey Court, gathering information to finally solve the Leader Murders and punish those plotting against the Council and community. At least, that was the plan….
When Bert meets Sir William Matthew Sims, Court Interrogator, and one hell of a sexy man, life becomes a balancing act. And when the Fey King is assassinated, things become really messy.
Pack politics, fey politics, treason, suspicions of treason…. Bert has to choose between being ruled by his fears or standing up for what—and who—he believes in. And it might just break his heart.
REVIEW:
Ok, let us start with this is my first book by this author and I’ve never even heard of the series before I started, however, in saying that…this book really held my interest. Coming in blind and just being able to follow along in the story…that is the sign of a really good author and a really good story!!
Bert Cooper…I have to say that Bert made me want to cry a bit. Bert is living with the betrayal of his sister and feels as if his worthiness is in question. Actually, it seems that Bert has always questioned himself and how he truly fits in with those around him. Bert is this really wonderful character that feels that he has to prove himself and prove his worth and what he doesn’t know is that he doesn’t have to. That the people in his life that know him…ABSOLUTELY Love and Appreciate him.
Now…William Sims…that Man…he’s just about the most interesting character I’ve read in awhile. I like that he’s got these AWESOME Powers and doesn’t hesitate to use them when need be. I have to say that I really enjoyed seeing this character who so many people are afraid of and to see him just be more than who you thought he’d be. I love that he loves his family and that he’d do ANYTHING to protect them. I like that he really, truly likes Bert. I like that he took the time to get to know him in the short time that they had together and got to see just what a wonderful man Bert is.
Now, I have to say that I Really, Truly Liked the King, Weiss. He made me laugh a bunch during his scenes. I like that he’s kinda grumpy and a hard ass and just made me like him A Lot!! I really liked that he loved and trusted Bert and that he only wanted the very best for him. I also liked Will’s Kiddos!! I liked that with all that they’ve been thru…they knew that they had the love and affection of their father and how they loved him as well. I really liked how they were with Bert. How they knew that this guy was one of the good ones and that their Dad liked him and wanted to be with him.
This story was so well thought out and truly had me so damn interested, I read it straight through. I didn’t stop to even cook dinner. I liked that the author gave some background and yet, it didn’t distract from the story. This is great book and I’m now looking to go back and read the other stories. That is high praise for coming in on book 3 and being able to catch up with what happened in the previous books and be totally hooked into the story…freaking priceless!!!!
