Ancient dragon shifter and arson investigator Liam Morgan has fought against his instincts to take a mate and sire a child for centuries, but now his dragon is fighting back. When a new case puts him face to face with an insanely attractive officer who sports a dragon tattoo, it’s all Liam can do to resist the urge to claim the man as his mate.
With a serial arsonist on the loose, Shane McKenna finds himself turning to Liam to help solve a case that could finally give him the respect he deserves.
But he never expected to find a much-needed kinship with the stoic scientist. And he definitely never expected to dream about Liam in a way that leaves him questioning his sexuality… and craving the touch of one very specific man.
As their case–and their relationship–heats up, Liam can’t fight the powerful force that draws him to Shane.
But claiming him has dire consequences. When an old enemy threatens to once again destroy everything Liam holds dear, he’ll stop at nothing to protect his mate and their unborn child.
Dragon Fire is a standalone novel with a HEA ending, a satisfying epilogue, and NO CLIFFHANGERS!
Content Warning: This book is a first time gay for you / straight to gay romance. It contains explicit, unprotected love scenes and male pregnancy, or Mpreg. Adults only shifter romance!
REVIEW:
This one turned out different than I thought but I really liked it. I honestly thought this would have been one of those fated mate stories where from the moment they see each other the sparks fly. This isn’t like that at all. This story built the attraction over time and subsequent interactions. Then there is another added connection thrown in which I really liked.
Liam is a 500 year old dragon shifter who’s had his heart broken centuries ago but is still scared to love again. Unfortunately his dragon has other ideas and demands a mate immediately.
Blake is a cop who always seems to come in 2nd best to all his other siblings. Self esteem shot to crap he takes hookups as they come, but always with women, because he’s not gay. That is until he meets Liam who changes Blake’s thinking all together.
Liam and Blake have an intense, fiery passion that once ignited burns hot and incredibly bright. I really enjoyed the twist that deepened their connection. I would have liked to have seen more of the emotional side between both characters, however. There’s was no doubt the chemistry and passion were very much alive.
This is my first Wolf Specter book and I’m really looking forward to reading Owen and Ivan’s stories. The world this author creates is enthralling. I want to know more about these dragons and where they come from.
Overall, this was an incredibly enjoyable start to a dragon shifter, mpreg series. Recommend.
