BLURB:
Starting over at forty is hard work for landscape architect Jack Bowman. His long-term partner hurt him badly. With his self-esteem dented by the break up, trusting a new lover is going to take time.
Tyler Freeman is equally unlucky when it comes to love. Now that he’s over thirty-five, he’s tired of getting played. All he wants is someone special. How hard can it be to meet a man who’s honest, with no hidden surprises?
Being set up on a blind date might be a classic cliché, but it’s a stroke of good luck for Jack and Tyler. They have a lot in common, including previous relationships steeped in deceit, but it’s worth navigating their trust issues if it means laying those ghosts to rest.
Making it work finally seems possible—until an accidental discovery threatens their newfound happiness.
REVIEW:
I think what I liked most about this story is the fact that it had several opportunities to go super angsty but it didn’t. These mature older men forego basically every opportunity for unnecessary drama and actually talked out most issues before they became issues. Granted, they talked A LOT, worried a lot but the communication was nice and different. I liked it.
Tyler and Jack meet under blind date circumstances but find out after a few weeks of dating that they have more in common than either man ever wanted.
Jack is scared to death of trying a relationship again while all Tyler wants is a partner in life, someone who is ready for the long haul.
They embark on a journey of sweet dates, hot sweaty moments, and soul searching conversation. While the road seems to be clear both men stumble upon a discovery that leaves them reeling.
Annabelle Jacobs is such a great writer. Even being American and confused at some of the terms I could grasps and appreciate her voice. Like I mentioned this was an incredibly sweet story. These men are older so they deal in miscommunication and understanding. They both know who they are and what they want. I really enjoyed being on this journey with them.
I liked this one. And I think it deserves extra points because of the dreamy cover…HOLY SILVER FOX, Batman…YESSS!
Recommend.
