BLURB:
Travel agent Jarrett Joynson won’t let his cheating boyfriend spoil his dream vacation, but being alone in Hawaii is more difficult than he imagined. When his attempts to catch a new lover fail, he turns to his Wiccan faith to ask the moon for guidance.
Shark shape-shifter Kainalu Enakai is in a similar position. His last relationship fell apart because he couldn’t share the truth with his boyfriend. Now Kainalu is on the prowl, looking for a new distraction.
When the moon draws Jarrett and Kainalu together, sparks fly. But the old scars on both their hearts cause trouble between them. If they cannot learn to trust each other, it will put not only their relationship in danger, but possibly Jarrett’s life.
A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2016 Daily Dose package “A Walk on the Wild Side.”
REVIEW:
This was a really sweet, really satisfying read. Both Kainalu and Jarrett are dealing with the ending of their last relationships and while each man wants to find someone to share their life with, trust is hard to come by. Brought together seemingly by fate, both men feel a connection but Kainalu has to reconcile what he wants with what he thinks he can have and Jarrett has to learn to put his faith in something outside of himself.
I really did adore this; I liked the incorporation of Wicca in the story and the connection with the moon between Jarrett’s faith and Kainalu’s shifting. There was a good amount of background given on both main characters so they felt really well flushed out yet the information didn’t overwhelm the overall storytelling or plot. While there was no shown sex between the men, I didn’t miss it at all since the story was so interesting and well developed and when Jarrett and Kainalu came together, both initially and then later when the truth comes out, it felt natural and seemed to fit really well.
Out of the stories I read for this collection, this one was by far my favorite; it had a great pace, wasn’t over the top with the shifter aspect or relationship, and the story was interesting and easy to get into. I will happily read this one again and I totally recommend it!

Wicca and shape shifting. Reminds me if one of the stories in the anthology ‘Shifting Sands.’
