BLURB:
Jiri’s life has been one misery after the next. A cobra shifter, he’s held captive by a collector who keeps him—and other shifters—in a private harem-style “zoo” in the Libyan desert. Considered a dangerous predator by the other shifters, and little more than a boy toy to the collector, Jiri is friendless, timid, and despondent. Miksa is the collector’s latest find. But honey badgers are known for their bad attitude, fearlessness, and fighting spirit. Miksa has no doubt he’ll escape, even if it means taking the whole zoo down with him. When honey badger and cobra meet, there should be instant enmity—after all, honey badgers eat cobras—yet both men find themselves oddly drawn to the other. Romance blossoms, but can it survive captivity and beyond? In order to do so, Jiri will have to find a strength he doesn’t know he possesses and Miksa will have to open a heart long closed to anyone except his immediate family.
REVIEW:
Jiri is a cobra shifter who has lived in captivity for the majority of his life. He was sold to Demetrius, aka, “the collector” when he was just a child. The collector has amassed a great many shifters over the years which he calls his ‘harem’, unfortunately Jiri is his favourite “boy-toy”. You would expect a cobra shifter to be fearless and very aggressive but Jiri? No, Jiri is the most timid shifter you could meet. The collector defanged him when he was first collected so he can’t spit venom, he has to wear a leather hood so he can’t mesmerize with his eyes, he is covered in gold collar, bangles, waist chain, nipple piercings, ankle bracelets so he can’t shift as well as proclaiming his “special” status!
The latest shifter captured by Demetrius happens to be a honey badger. The honey badger is the only animal immune to the cobra’s venom, in fact honey badgers kill and eat cobra’s! When Jiri gets a good look at the new shifter his breath is taken by how gorgeous the stranger is. No matter how scared his is of him, Jiri thinks he’s gorgeous.
Miksa is a honey badger who has just been captured by the collector and he’s pissed! He was minding his own business as a security guard then he wakes up being carried into an arena, wearing a collar that stops him from being able to shift, expected to fight a complete stranger, surrounded by shifters of all types. After the fight, Miksa is taken back to his cell to recuperate and this is where he meets Jiri a cobra shifter. Instead of being instant enemies like he thought they would be Miksa can’t deny that he finds the little snake extremely fascinating and when he convinces Jiri to take off his hood he’s stunned by how stunningly good-looking he is!
Jiri and Miksa get to know each other when Jiri helps to heal Miksa after he’s beaten severely by several guards after he stopped the head guard from raping Jiri. As they get to know each other they also become attached to each other and when the time comes for Miksa to make his escape, thanks to a lot of help from Jiri, Miksa discovers he can’t leave without Jiri.
A Cobra’s Charm is a lovely short story about two men who find love in captivity and find the courage to fight back against their captor. This is definitely a book to add to your collection!

I have never read about a cobra shifter before… I find it really intriguing! I think I’ll give it a go…
Sounds engaging, and you can’t fault that cover…
I’m reading the Shifting Sands anthology now, so the whole ‘shifter’ idea is compelling, to say the least!
Cobra shifter? That’s new and it sounds awesome. Thanks for the review!
