Philip, a young Englishman, was on holiday and got a bit carried away on a night out. Sam agrees to help him get back to his friends, but a landslide cuts them off, stranding them in Sam’s cabin together. They end up getting closer than either of them expected.
When they go their separate ways, Sam gives Philip his number to stay in touch, but Philip loses it. He’ll have to resort to desperate measure to find Sam again.
Review:
I love these Daily Dose stories and I look forward to reading them each year. They tend to be a mixed bag of the great, the pretty good and sometimes, the horrible. But I lucked out this year and my first story is a real winner.
Sam and Philip are adorable from the get-go. A sort of shifter meet-cute that made me laugh and I was entranced immediately.
The story really isn’t that long at 48 pages so I don’t want to give to much away, but I would like to mention that it’s wonderful to read a short story that doesn’t leave me feeling cheated. It’s short and sweet but absolutely complete. Would I love to read more about them? Of course! But I’m more than happy with what the author gave me.
The writing is fantastic and the dialogue is smart and fun. And the setting of the story is perfectly described and I had no problem imagining the scenery around them.
If you’re looking for something that will make you smile, this is definitely the story for you. Kudo’s to the author for being my favorite of the whole anthology.
