TITLE: Buddy the Cat
SERIES: A Walk on the Wild Side (Daily Dose 2016)
AUTHOR: Sara Stark
PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press
LENGTH: 22 pages
RELEASE DATE: June 1, 2016
BLURB:
Noel is a lonely librarian who spends most of his time working, surfing dating websites to no avail, and hanging out with the cat who shows up on his balcony every night. When he meets Mike, he’s finally found a man who holds his interest. But it soon becomes clear that there’s more to the bird-chasing businessman than what’s on the surface.
REVIEW:
Noel, a loner librarian, doesn’t have much luck with men. Hell, even his male cat, Buddy, doesn’t stick around for more than the night. He is tired of being alone, though, so when he keeps stumbling across Mike, Noel takes his chance. And shockingly, despite his bumbling attempts, Mike agrees to a date. But the nagging feeling that he knows Mike from somewhere doesn’t go away…
As the human-slave of two cats, I found myself really enjoying the Buddy/Noel aspect of this short story. I mean, who hasn’t had whole conversations with their cat, complete with lengthy pauses so the cat can get their own say? And while (I hope to god) my cats can’t turn human, I found myself enjoying the idea those parts quite a lot.
This is a really short story, so there isn’t a whole lot of time to build up a lot of the relationship between Mike and Noel. The bits with Buddy certainly help a little, but since romance is one of the last things people have with their pets (hopefully), it meant we only got to see the very beginnings of this relationship. It left the book with a very light feeling. Which isn’t all bad. Just don’t expect any sex in this story and you should be fine.
Overall, it was a sweet, fun story.

I am the human slave to a very moody cat, so I think this story will be perfect for me. Thank you for the great review!
Love librarian guys in stories!
Cats as instruments of love… of course! May love prevail, at all costs! Especially when books are involved!
There aren’t enough books with librarians out there XD
Nothing more perfect that sitting down to read a book with a purring/sleeping cat as your companion.
