REVIEW:
Inferno is the relatively new gay nightclub in Moonlight Cove. The place is packed every night; they have the latest music, the cutest dancers and they have the owner Dante Jardine. Dante is an ex-cop who decided to open Inferno when he retired from the force and he is incredibly good-looking. Dante is the dark and mysterious kind of man who draws everyone to him and he takes advantage of having so many admirers. There is a darkroom where anything goes, men go in there to get a blowjob, have sex, pretty much anything you want to do you can do in the darkroom!
Zach Stewart is a cop who has been called in to Inferno because a rent boy has been murdered in the alley behind the club. Zack’s prime suspect is Dante because Dante is so incredibly arrogant, he answers their questions with partial answers and everything Zack and his partner Claire uncover points to Dante. Zack is so attracted to Dante he doesn’t know what to do about it.
And this for me is where I struggled with the story.
Zack try’s everything he can to put the Dante front and centre for not only the first murder but for every subsequent murder as well. As the story unfolds you find out that Dante has slept with a vast majority of the rent boys of Moonlight Cove and the first victim was his most active partner. Then you find out that the majority of all of Dante’s sex partners all have either HIV or AIDS!
And still, Zack has sex with him!
In the midst of the murder investigation everything for Zack always comes back to Dante, every suspect they find, Dante has had sex with him. When Zack tells Dante about their HIV status he’s shocked but still, he doesn’t immediately get tested! And still Zack has sex with Dante every chance he gets. The more you learn about Dante the more you realise he’s hiding a very painful past by behaving like a man-whore now. There are more questions than answers about Dante and his past and the really annoying part of this book is that you get more of Claire’s point of view than you do of Dante!
I’m still confused about this book. I liked the storyline but I didn’t like the MC’s attitude or behaviour. I particularly didn’t like the fact that you got a supporting characters point of view throughout the book rather than the second MC! I do recommend that you read Inferno and make up your own mind because it is an interesting story.
